Over the Rainbow
I forgot my phone (camera) again! I often have a feeling before going out that I might need my camera, but I constantly forget to bring it. Then, I stumble upon a gorgeous moment in nature and miss the chance to capture it. I feel about 10% regret in those moments, but I also find it easier to focus on fully witnessing the beauty in front of me.
This time, I went to the hayfield with my dog for a short afternoon walk. As soon as I stepped into the field, I felt the refreshing energy of the warm breeze. Then, I saw a beautiful, perfect rainbow in the sky. My dog looked so happy and ran toward it.
I noticed that yellow butterflies were still fluttering around the field, and the view of the trees was so colourful. Red, orange, yellow, green, and brown leaves all mixed together. For a brief moment, I thought, What if a bird flew under the rainbow? That would be the perfect image of this heaven-like view. I also thought about how many people have dreamed of going "over the rainbow," like in the movie The Wizard of Oz. I love the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," especially the version sung by the Hawaiian artist IZ. I could almost hear the sound of his ukulele in the breeze.
Then, something amazing happened a young eagle appeared and flew toward me. I couldn’t believe it! I had just imagined a bird flying under the rainbow, and here it was, happening right before my eyes. The eagle soared beneath the rainbow as my dog joyfully skipped around beneath it.
Of course, I had forgotten my phone, so I couldn’t take a picture of this magical moment. Instead, I decided to create a collage to capture the memory. I used a photo I had taken of the same field in late summer, but I added colourful autumn trees, a rainbow, yellow butterflies, the eagle, and my dog. I had to use an old picture of him from last spring before he lost some weight, so he looks a little chubbier. After arranging all the images, I digitally processed them, adding a slightly darker frame to give it the dreamlike feeling I had experienced.
This collage artwork is very close to the real moment from the other day. I truly believe we can see glimpses of heaven in our real lives, just like this. The rainbow lasted until I got home. People have different opinions about how many colours a rainbow has. Some say six, others say seven. I personally see around ten. I think there are red, purple, orange, pink, yellow, yellow-green, emerald colour, blue, light blue, and dark blue.
It was such an amazing experience to see the young eagle flying under the rainbow! I had been feeling down lately, so this felt like a wonderful gift from nature.

虹の彼方に
またスマホ（カメラ）を持っていくのを忘れました！いつもカメラを持って行った方が良いのではないかと思った日に限って、持っていくのを忘れてしまうのです。そして、シャッターチャンスを逃してしまうことが多いです。１０％くらい後悔しますが、カメラのことなんか忘れて目の前にあることを思いっきり楽しむ方が楽しいとも思えるのです。
ある日、午後の犬の短い散歩のために近くの牧草地へ行った時のことです。一歩草原に足を踏み入れると、心地よいあたたかい風が吹いてきたのを感じました。そして美しい完璧な虹が空にかかっているのが見えました。私の犬は虹の方に走っていき、とても嬉しそうにしていました。
黄色のモンキチョウが草原を飛び回り、木々は秋の鮮やかな色に変化していました。赤、オレンジ、黄色、緑と茶色の葉っぱがあちこちに見えました。虹の下を鳥が飛んだらどんなふうに見えるのかとほんのちょっとの間考えていました。こんな天国のような風景にそんなことが起こったらすごいなと思っていました。オズの魔法使いのように「虹の彼方に」いくことを夢見る人は多いのではないでしょうか。主題歌の虹の彼方にはとてもいい歌ですよね。特にハワイの歌手IZのバージョンが好きです。彼の奏でるウクレレの音が聞こえてくるような気がします。
すると、突然 向こうのほうから一匹の若い鷲が飛んでくるのが見えました。信じられません！少し前にもし鳥が虹の下をくぐって飛んできたらどんな風か〜と考えていたら、本当に目の前に現れたのでびっくりしました。鷲はゆっくりと虹の下をくぐり、こちらに向かってきます。私の犬はそれを見て嬉しそうにスキップして近寄って行きました。
スマホを忘れたので、もちろんこのシーンを写真におさめることができませんでした。その代わり、写真を使ってそのときの光景のコラージュアートを作ることにしました。夏の終わり頃に写した同じアングルの牧草地の写真を秋色に変え、虹と黄色い蝶々、鷲と私の犬を加えました。犬の写真は春にこの牧草地で撮ったもので、ダイエット前の彼は少し太っているように見えます。すべてのイメージを加えてからデジタル加工を施しました。フレームの周りは少し暗い色合いにして、夢を見ているような光景を再現しました。
このコラージュアートはなかなかよく再現できたように思います。この世でもこんな風に楽園を体験できるのではないかと思っています。虹はかなり長い時間くっきりと見えていました。虹の色は７色またはそれ以上だという人がいますね。６色だという人もいます。私は個人的には１０色くらいは見えると思います。赤、紫、オレンジ、ピンク、黄色、黄緑、エメラルド色、青、水色、それから紺色といったところでしょうか。
虹の下を通り抜けて飛んでくる鷲の姿を見られたのは、ものすごく貴重な体験だったように感じます。最近落ち込む日が多いので、自然から素敵なプレゼントをもらった気分になりました。
