Hello Hive family, Sketchbook community members and fashion designers. Today I'm writing about a great software called Clo that designers can use to create designs, prototypes and test out variations of a particular design. Where was this when I started Tshirt design!
The fashion industry has always been at the forefront of creativity, innovation, and technology. From the design process to the production line, technology has played a crucial role in streamlining the workflow and bringing ideas to life. In recent years, the industry has seen a significant transformation with the introduction of digital solutions like the Clo. This is a 3D design tool that has been embraced by designers, manufacturers, and retailers across the industry.
Clo is a game-changer in the fashion industry, allowing designers to create photorealistic 3D designs of their garments, eliminating the need for physical prototypes, and saving both time and money in the process. The software provides designers with a range of tools to create 3D designs, including pattern making, draping, and fitting simulations, enabling them to visualize their designs in a realistic way before they go into production.
Clo has revolutionized the way fashion companies design and develop their products, helping them to reduce costs, speed up production times, and improve the overall quality of their designs.
Here are two examples of large companies that use Clo and how it has helped them:
Adidas
Adidas, one of the world's leading sportswear brands, has embraced Clo to speed up its design process and create more sustainable products. By using Clo, Adidas has been able to design and produce 3D prototypes, reducing the need for physical samples, which in turn saves time and resources. The software has also enabled Adidas to experiment with new materials and designs, allowing them to create more sustainable products with less waste. According to Adidas, the use of Clo has reduced its design time by up to 60%, allowing the company to bring new products to market faster and more efficiently.
PVH Corp
PVH Corp, the parent company of brands like Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, has also embraced Clo as part of its digital transformation strategy. By using this, PVH has been able to improve its design process, reduce lead times, and improve the accuracy of its designs. The software has allowed PVH to create 3D designs and visualizations of its products, allowing the company to experiment with new materials and designs without the need for physical prototypes. This has resulted in a significant reduction in lead times, with products going from concept to market in a fraction of the time it used to take. Clo has also helped PVH to improve the accuracy of its designs, reducing errors and minimizing waste in the production process.
Not Just Big Brands
It's not just big fashion houses and big brands using Clo or similar technology. I came across a few artists who've posted their work on social media that have some awesome designs.

Not Just Apparel
In this tweet we can see the potential for sneaker designers to enhance their workflow. Personally, I see these tools as a great source of content and research. I think the ability to show your fans or customers a realistic 3D video of your product is far more engaging that a picture of a regular video footage. Once could save money but not having to produce prototypes for AB testing. Especially as manufacturers have MOQ's (minimum order quantity) How awsome!
