Hello amazing people! For today, I finished the illustration of a banana leaf I was working on. Each time I was about to add a few more lines on the drawing, a new task would pop up. I’m glad I got to finish it today!
There’s a lot of Banana/plantain trees around me and it’s really fun seeing them grow and produce delicious food too! Due to this I’m able to get lovely photographs of the trees and trust me, it’s never
the same each day. There’s always something beautiful to see ; )
Like I mentioned in my previous post, I’m trying to get accustomed to using my own references. I get inspired each time I see Claude Monet’s Lily pad paintings!
Considering how fast landscapes change due to development and other factors, it’s important to document
Down to the drawing, I sketched using my staedtler pencil ( I misplaced my mechanical pencil). I realized my sketching wasn’t really going well, so I looked up illustrations created of banana trees by artists in the past. It was really fun!
I studied how they sketched and what really stood out for me was how unique each illustration looked and they were so lively! It’s my hope that overtime I’ll get to that stage too!
After the sketch, I took out my Windsor & Newton watercolor set and got painting!
I’m taking a cue from my previous painting and combining both watercolor and pencil! I hope you like it : )
