Greetings everyone,
One of the popular light playstyles I mentioned in my previous post, was order light. And just like the name sounds, order light is all about using order everywhere to almost paralyze your opponent creatures and then either obliterate them, or control the board and dominate the game.
So I wanted to try to play this deck archetype having barely played light before, but I felt that I was missing a lot of key cards, so I tried doing a somewhat order light deck that consists of some order cards to paralyze your opponent, but not as heavy ordered as the original one, but this one also is based on buffing immensely the Archpriest of Parthene to finish the game with it.
So I will be sharing how the deck and how did my first 12 games with it go:
The deck
So as we can see from the deck, I tried adding as much order as I have in my collection. I can say that the best one is Writ of Law because with a mana gem you can put it in the same turn as the Archpriest. Also the other order cards are decent.
However, I wanted to try the Righteous Appartition to see if I will get any value in it and it was worth it in some scenarios but overall it was more bad than good because it was very slow and because it was easily removed especially being a 4 mana card it would not last long because of the huge amount of spells used in the current meta.
Matchups Breakdown
Matchups | Wins/Matches | Win rate |
---|---|---|
Light | 0/0 | |
Nature | 2/4 | |
Magic | 1/3 | |
Death | 1/1 | |
War | 0/1 | |
Deception | 2/3 | |
Overall | 6/12 | 50% |
These 12 games were all in mythic, and as we can see the deck did not perform very well and I did not expect it to, I noticed I was missing a lot of key cards that would turn this deck around. I struggled especially against magic because it was so easy for them to remove any creature I put, and the order is not of very good use since they already do not use a lot of creatures. And when I was able to get a strong Archpriest on board I took a Ratify to the face.
However, with those changes I can think the deck would be much more better:
Card Changes
Sern, the moderator
Who would not love to have sern in there! This card is so awesome but it is legendary so unfortunately I did not have it but if you do, throw it in there and It can make a huge difference with this deck!
Censure
Also a great combo with the Archepriest as well as a great paralyzer for your enemy which can be a huge breather for you to help you control the board in the way you see fit. I did not know such card existed but I bought it now when I saw what it does!
Divine Judgement
Also did not have this card so I decided to try without it, but after doing so I can see why it is so important and can make a big difference. You never know when an obliteration might come in handy in a game especially for 1 mana. It was on my list of cards that will 20X+ and now I can say I am 100% sure of that if not more!
These were the classic order light cards, and I feel with them combined with the Archpriest at the 6 mana spot this deck is monstrous and can perform very well which I will definitely try but without sern since it is a bit expensive for me.
Cards to Replace in the deck
Some cards did not perform well so it would be much better to remove them for the cards mentioned above and those cards are:
Righteous Appartition
The main purpose of me testing out this deck was to try out this card as well as the Archpriest. This card was just kind of slow and I did not have much time to get any good value out of it most of the time. The only times it did me well was when I was so much ahead at the 4 mana spot which probably any card at that point would do well so I do not think it belongs in this deck.
Protective Benediction
This card was not so bad to say the least, but I think it would shine much more in a Zoo deck I would say. Plus with2 radiant dawns in the deck, you probably will not need another group buffing spell because Radiant Dawn should do the trick and for less mana. So I would say it is better to replace it for one of the previously mentioned cards.
Conclusion
It was certainly fun to try out such a new playstyle to me. I very rarely play deck that are so based and rotating around order because usually the most order you see outside of light is in deception decks, specifically when using The Hollow and some other cards which I do not own.
So trying this one out was very fun and it also opened my eye that order light can perform well with these small changes and it can be a viable, decent deck to use! I am also tempted to maybe try it out this weekend rank and see how it does with the changes especially since I did not have the results I wanted last week!
So for anyone who have not tried out such deck yet, go for it! Maybe do the changes according to the cards you have and try it out its so much fun and it can be very decent and effective!
That was it for this post, let me know your thoughts about what I said if you are a light expert or had previous experience with the deck, let me know of there are any cards, or combos I might be missing and see you on the next one!
Mad Love, Peace out <3
