GU Introduction - Bosfik

If you're in the GU Hive for some time, you may have seen some my posts. But today I realised that I had actually never created an introductory one. It's never too late, so I will do it now!

My name is Eugene (russian analog is Evgeniy or Zhenya) and i'm a 16yo student from Russia. In the summer of 2021, I decided to set the one big goal: earn enough money to buy a flat in Moscow by the 18 years mark. If you're interested how much it costs, the price for a standart two-bedroom flat is roughly 10 million rubles, which in current prices equals ~135k $. This may sound like a lot, but I think that in current realities, everything is possible if you work hard enough.

I was born in Irkutsk in 2005, but my parents decided to move in Moscow when I was two years old. At first, our family was quite poor, we were living with a grandma, but then my parents opened a business selling some toys and books and it grew quite rapidly. It still exists and helps us a lot with money, but sadly the bigger companies are absorbing the market now, so it's less successful. I could read at the age of 3, and went to school at age 6.
Some my childhood photos:

This photo was taken in USA at the age of 8. My country still had quite good relationships with USA, which now sadly isn't that good. US is a fascinating country with all of its national parks and diverse landscapes. I would absolutely love to visit it again, but currently it's VERY hard.

You may ask why am I smiling when the school is burning? That's because it was just a film decoration, I was an actor there.

My mother registered me to three local schools (<1km away from our house) and, just for luck, to the best school in our city. Best school in Moscow, you may ask? No, we live in Zelenograd, which is ~25km away of Moscow, but still counts as a district of Moscow:

And guess which school accepted the application? The best one in the city. This was the first turning point in my life. My parents were shocked and very happy. Sadly, this school was 10km away, so we decided to move closer to it. In 3th grade, another turning point in my life happened. My parents signed me up for english courses. I've been studying english for ~7 years already, but most of them were on a basic level. Now I have a certificate for B2 level and this year I'll try to get C1.

Aside of that, i'm quite a good swimmer, having a third adult category in it.

My first encounter with cryptocurrencies was this summer. My friend used to work as a reseller, but found out about NFTs, then he gave me this information. At first, I was quite sceptical about it. But after some time, I decided to give it a try. My first experience can probably be counted as not very good. I didn't know about ETH gas and lost 20$ worth of it due to the gas. Then I started browsing different sources of information about this topic. I really liked everything related with blockchain, cryptocurrencies and etc. and soon I was subscribed to ~10 different Telegram channels about it. Sadly, most of posts there were for high banks, and all my budget was roughly 50$. Then I encountered a post about Gods Unchained(ofc it isn't an AD):

Before playing GU, I mostly played DOTA 2 and Counter Strike, having 2k+ hours in each. I've never played HearthStone or any other card game before, only watched my friend play a year ago. That's why my first hours of playing were tough, even that I won quite a lot games, I was making a lot of stupid moves. Sadly, I can't add any screenshots of it, because gudecks doesn't show my first games, but I wasn't able to climb higher than purified iron rank.

That was the time I started watching GU-related videos.
Here are some amazing videos for starters, I watched to become better:
- deck building
- starters guide
- possible earnings from GU

There were also some russian videos, but I don't see any point in adding them here, as I don't think there are any Russians here.

After watching a lot of videos and trying to build a lot of nature decks, I've finally created something good. It looked like this:

Also, roughly on this time, thanks to @acidyo I've learned about this wonderful place and started posting. This was my first post:

Tbh, my deck was quite good, I had something like 67% winrate with it and quickly climbed to the Midnight Shadow rank. But suddenly I understood that Midnight Shadow was my limiting point and I just couldn't climb further. That was the time I've decided to build a Big Beasts deck:

Luckily for me, this deck was built after the forge reopening, so I could easily buy cards I needed. By the way, I play totally F2P. With this deck, the highest rank I reached was Ethereal Diamond.

I was running quite low on Flux as I was mostly just playing Nature, so I've built more decks - war and deception. That's how i reached mythic the first time. You may ask, how did i do that with decks you've never played before? That's how: (and no, I wasn't playing against derankers)
@bosfik/how-i-accidentally-got-the-mythic-rank

That also was the time, acidyo and copperpitch subscribed to me, which i was very grateful about.
Being a bit tilted, I've decided to make a break of GU and writing posts here. Then, after a week, YouTube recommendations showed me CopperPitch's video about a new deception deck. It encouraged me to buy it for the money I had on Immutable X. Playing with it was the best experience in this game for me. You can read more about it here:

Finally, building this deck and seeing how much did the cards' prices change encouraged me to try to flip some cards on GU market. I'm not sure if that was a good investment, but yesterday I bought 18 Sole Survivors for 2 $GODS each and placed them for 3 $GODS. Three of them have already been bought, but I'm not sure if the price will remain the same.

That's all I wanted to say, if you have any questions, feel free to ask here! Have a great day!
