WE: Thucydides Quote And What It Means.

The quote "The secret to happiness is freedom... And the secret to freedom is courage," by Thucydides, is a very deep one that underlines the interconnection between freedom and courage in achieving happiness. It underlines how freedom and happiness are closely related, and how, in order to obtain freedom, one must have that courage to fight them obstacles head-on and break free of constraints, and accept who we truly are.

In addition to freedom being seen as a physical restriction, freedom can also refer to the liberation of our mental and emotional state. This could be the capacity or strength or courage to make decisions and lead a life of our own choosing. On the other hand, courage means to have the strength and bravery to confront our fears, overcome our challenges, and surpass various limitations.

Now according to Thucydides, he insinuates that the ultimate goal people should strive to achieve in their life is happiness. That feeling of fulfillment, contentment, and general well-being. He also stated that freedom is that key to achieving this happiness. Now analyzing this personally, in a case a person feels confined, repressed, or constrained in their choices and behaviors, they cannot be truly happy. As a result, freedom is necessary for the pursuit of happiness.

Know this, freedom isn't bought with money. Rather through courageous acts to let go of what's holding you back. Courage to confront your fears, courage to take that simple step to freedom.

And what's a free man if not a happy one.
When a man has the freedom to make his own choices, pursue his passions, and live his lives according to their own terms and desires. When a man has the freedom to express himself, follow his dreams, and seek personal growth. When a man isn't bound by external restrictions, it leads to a deeper sense of happiness.

Ofcourse freedom itself is a tough nut to crack. It takes a whole lot of bravery to tackle challenges, face one's fears, and overcome constraints. But only people with courage are able to free themselves from these constraints of society's expectations and the dread of judgment. It only takes courage to embrace our freedom and be who we really are, make our own decisions, and follow our passions without fear. Overcoming your own internal obstacles, like worries, doubts, or self-imposed constraints, you need to act courageously too.

The context of this quote has been evident in our real world. I'm the life of various renowned freedom or civil rights fighters. We've seen them embrace courage and their courageous deeds has served as an example to others and who look up to then and brought about important societal changes or freedom which they seek. Even in our personal dreams, they have also been examples of those who fight for their own freedom, like as artists, writers, they frequently show enormous courage in defying social or cultural conventions that want to lay them back and keep them from their freedom and what they're truly find happiness in.
