Had another mail call today, this time adding something a bit different to my collection.
3 gold leaf notes from a small island nation I had never heard before called Antigua & Barbuda:
Unfortunately they are super shiny and I couldn't take any proper photos.
Now, there's not much info about them on the internet. Mine were minted in 1981 and they have a denomination of 30 $ each.
According to a post I found on reddit, they are still legal tender and if I visit the country I can cash them for the face value which typically exceeds what they go for, which is around 15-20$ a piece on ebay. As for me, I got each for 12$. Not bad!
Apparently they were never a big hit amongst collectors hence why they are so cheap these days.
As for composition, @kerrislravenhill informed me they are gold plated 0.958 silver, also known as Britannia silver. However this site claims they are 0.999. Dunno.
As you probably know by now, I am a sucker for shiny animal themed stuff so naturally I love them. And I think I got them for a really good price so a win in my book :)
I guess I'll take a break from German coins and cover each piece individually in the days to come.
Anyways, let's move on to the upcoming silvergoldstackers raffle!
Thanks to the juicy donations by @buggedout and @bulliontools the Europe hub will be giving out a total of 6.5 silver ounces to a lucky winner! There was also a symbolic donation by @youloseagain , I guess it will cover some of the postal fee 😆
So one lucky winner will be getting:
2 x Maples
2 x Guineas
2 x Silver dragon rectangle thingies
1 x mystery coin !
Not bad if you ask me!
Sorry, no photo of the mystery thingie, sorry :p Hint, it's one of my favorite coins.
Closing I want to remind you to follow @buggedout and @ssg-community for all the latest updates on the raffle! You don't want to miss it! It's gonna be epic!
