Prasant Jha reports in cointelegraph.com that "the Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget wants to defend the metaverse from Big Tech giants aiming to make a foray into the nascent market.

Citing an interview by The South China Morning Post Prasant reports as Borget saying that "it’s not about the competition, rather more about an open, decentralized future. Tech giants have a monopoly over Web 2.0, something Web 3.0 technologies, such as the metaverse and crypto, are trying to break."

“We don’t think those companies can build something truly fun that’s catered to the users because they’ve been so focused on their key business model and how to satisfy shareholders rather than satisfy users who own the asset, who own the governance of their own platform.”

No one is going to be able to stop Facebook or any other big-tech from entering the Metaverse which is going to be a multi-trillion-dollar industry. They will definitely try their best to grab their share of the pie.

The question is whether the users are going to accept what the big-techs are going to offer. If The quality of the products offered by the big-techs are far superior to what the Web3, decentralized DAOs offer, what would the user do? It would be interesting to see what would be the future of the Metaverse world.
