One Of The Worst Ideas I've Ever Heard..

Have you heard about Chain Chatter?

That's a new weekly show on Twitter/X Spaces put on by @khaleelkazi from $LEO

And he hosted his second one this afternoon, which I had a chance to take in. It had a nice little round table of who's who on the blockchain and the topic was....Stablecoins!

=> If you haven't had a chance to check it out, be sure to give it a listen here!

Don't worry, this blog post isn't about $HBD and how awesome it is :) I'll leave that to my post from last week and of course, the above mentioned recording.

In the session though, it was brought up that there are some rumblings around the blockchain about getting rid of the 'social' aspect of Hive. I didn't get the reasoning behind it or even who was trying to make this a reality, but generally the idea is....Less social, more focus on investment tools.

It shook me.....And tonight I wanted to make a case for how that could quite possibly be the worst idea in the history of this blockchain. Let's find out why I think this way...

Hive is community. This is our single greatest asset. Before people think about fee-less transactions or decentralization, they think of the amazing communities built here on chain.

No one will ever join this blockchain because we have '3 second transaction speed', but they will join because their friends are here and part of a community!

These communities are built on chain and relationships are formed over years because....We aren't:

Wallet Address: 0X939cirh838kd892kwiwki399

For example:

If I want to talk about crypto and economics, I know to follow and chat with @taskmaster4450

If I'm interested in learning more about fitness, I can always pick the brain of @jimmy.adames

If I want to stay up to date with everything going on with the Alive project, I know @flaxz is a quick message away.

You see, you can't find this on other chains. Sure you can find experts and passionate community members about any blockchain, but the community is built on....Discord, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube.

We have the community built right into everything we do. And these are real people too. Which means, a lot of us have known each other, engaged with each other and shared our passions for years. You cannot understand how important this is!

The social aspect of the blockchain allows for us to engage with each other, right here. We don't need to stray too far away, and with projects like InLeo right now taking off, stay in contact with your community has never been easier.

And talk about impact....

Have you seen what some of these communities are doing in Venezuela? In Ghana? Around the world, like minded and passionate Hivians are always coming together and creating real chance for their communities.

Again....You just don't see this on other blockchains!

So I get it, we want smart contracts. We want all the fancy things that other chains have that will attract outside investments. But I feel like if we take away or even think about taking away what makes Hive so unique....We've lost our way!

@anomadsoul echoed this in the Chain Chatter this afternoon too, and I hope more people think like we do.

Community has been, and will always be king on Hive.

And if we forget that, we might as well delete Keychain and only use Metamask going forward....
