Is it really this difficult to pass Coronavirus Relief?

We finally got a deal! Then we didn't

It's taken 6 months for House Democrats and Senate Republicans to come together on a deal that both sides can get behind.

They finally did that with the $900 Billion stimulus bill they attached to the government spending bill.

This included $600 checks and a bump in unemployment insurance by $300, as well as some other tidbits.

It also included a whole lot of pork.

Mostly because it was attached to the government budget for the year, but that seems to have been lost on some.

And then of course, Trump comes in at the 11th hour, even though he had no part in the negotiations and decides to blow it all up saying he wants $2k checks instead of $600.

Sounds nice right?

So, House Democrats go back and amend the bill to include $2k checks instead of the original $600.

In order to be amended it must pass with unanimous consent in the House.

Well, of course, the Republicans in the House did not play ball.

Choose instead to focus on the foreign aid aspect, which of course the Democrats did not play ball with.

Add it all up and it sounds like we are almost back where we started.

As it stands now the President has until Monday to sign the bill as is.

If he doesn't the government will shut down and no relief for Americans.

Can you believe we are even still talking about this at this point?

I think I might be moving to Canada in the near future.
