Hey folks.
I suggest you to search the words "web3 social media" in Google search engine, you will come across different articles talking multiple web3 social media platforms.
I tried searching in Google with the same keywords and found different articles mentioning different web3 social media platforms but it was sort of surprising for me finding Steemit being mentioned in most or probably all of the articles as a web3 social media platform with some other web3 social media platforms but I couldn't find Hive.
And I would suggest you to also check it out.
The articles you may get are the ones that are ranked in top on Google first page meaning that Hive might be missing some good exposure as you might not find or might hardly find Hive being mentioned with other web3 social media platforms.
For me, the surprising thing is that I saw Steemit among others but not Hive. If you compare Steemit to Hive I guess Hive have an upper hand and it could be visible when you visit Steemit website. I don't think posts that are in trending on Steemit are good than Hive. To me posts on Hive trending page are way better.
I don't know if Steemit has any dapps but Hive has multiple dapps. Hive has second layer tokens, however I think Steemit doesn't have second layer tokens.
Why is Then Hive Behind Steemit?
To me, the answer is traffic.
According to the data by Similarweb, the global rank of Steemit is #20,133.
Total Visits Last 3 Months for Steemit:
Similarweb
The traffic is in millions.
While the global rank of Hive is #67,863.

Now, I guess you can now better understand where Steemit is beating Hive.
What Hive Needs?
I guess Hive needs to work on marketing. Hive I believe is an undervalued platform but the platform lacks a good exposure and for exposure efforts are required to promote the platform to the rest of the crypto world and internet users in general.
In my opinion, Hive needs a dedicated team that could work on its promotion and I don't think Hive may lack this talent. However, Hive can hire someone for this job.
One of the issue with Hive may also be the strict rules by some of the users with big Hive Power downvoting users which sort of create frustration in them. This is something that may make them leave the platform and impact other users as well seeing this.
