In the Spotlight

Holozing Launched Alpha Vials

Last weekend, Holozing launched the sale of Alpha Vials, which are the main packs of the game.

One Alpha Vial is priced at 20 HBD (or the HIVE equivalent), and players who participated at the first challenge for the game last December (turned into an achievement), benefit of a discount of at most 31% for the first vial purchased.

Theoretically, one Alpha Vial is guaranteed to contain almost everything one needs to start playing the game, when the gameplay will start. The only needed items for the gameplay not included are the healers, which will be sold separately, and potentially the capturing devices, which may be included, but they are not guaranteed in appear in every alpha vial. The other optional item from the alpha vials, the Alpha Healer Mount, is not necessary to play the game, but it is useful to move faster in the game. I'm not sure yet if backpacks would be necessary or not. I just asked @acidyo.

Yesterday, the collection rewards have been restructured to include alpha vial holders. Currently, 100k ZING are printed daily as collection rewards, with 99k going to vial holders. Vials will not be openable for another month or so, at which point collection rewards will be restructured again to be based on the rarity of the items held, and with less emphasis on vials that are held unopened.

Challenges for two more achievements are expected to begin shortly, after which collection rewards will be split 90/10k with 10k going to achievements. Details briefly here.

Marketing / Awareness / Branding

Hive at TechEx Amsterdam

We have more posts from TechEx 2024. One of them is from @blind-spot, who took place of @mcsamm as a last-minute presenter for the Hive-funded Boreholes Project in Ghana, since the latter couldn't make it. Seems like he handled very well, given the circumstances. There is a video recording included, but the sound isn't great.

The other one is from @rubencress, who often takes exceptional pictures at the events he participates. If new users is what we are looking for at TechEx and not something else (perfectly reasonable to think the objective is different), seems this might not be the best choice, despite the well reception of Hive over there.

Hive Scores at the WRC Central European Rally

Hive rally car finished 8th in its category (WRC3) at the WRC Central European Rally, and collected its first points since moving up to WRC3. Have or not disagreements regarding funding, they deserve our congrats for the progress!

The Hive Film Is Still Alive

We haven't heard anything publicly about the Hive film in a while, but it looks like it's being changed after some feedback. Seems like the original was perceived as too self-promotional. Here are the updates.

Governance / Development / Dapps / Education

Early "Release Notes" for HiveD and HAF Apps from Blocktrades. Getting Ready For More Transactions.

You probably have seen his post, but I do my job of linking it here. It seems everyone is getting ready for a high influx of users or at least of transactions. Not just Blocktrades, I've seen Inleo having the same focus these days. They may think ahead about what Holozing and maybe Splinterlands could bring in and may have some estimates about what may be coming from...

Inleo's Collaboration with Dash

More details come to light regarding what Inleo plans for Dash integration. Basically, they want to create a "skin" and adaptations to Inleo that caters to Dash users, including seeing rewards as Dash, purchasing with Dash, and withdrawing rewards as Dash. Most likely logging in with Dash wallets too.

3Speak Issues This Week

3Speak experienced some serious issues this week, affecting one of their servers, the database, and causing problems with the IPFS storage system cluster too. Fixes are undergoing, but they don't appear to be finished yet. This is their announcement.

The Kingdom - Funding Request

"The Kingdom" is that place in the center of Kraków (at least I think it's the center, lol) that everyone who has been there at least once seems to think is very special. It kind of became a place in the real world where you need a Hive passport to enter (be a member), which let's admit, is pretty cool for Hive.

They have recently put out a funding proposal to the DHF. It was well written and detailed, but with all the funding going out from the DHF recently, I was reluctant to vote for it at first. Something I like is that's a short one, only two months, and if they get the funding and don't deliver, they probably won't see the next one (but you never know).

What convinced me to give them my vote was after seeing the live stream recording, and previously, their plans with the Hive Coding School - they are building real projects that are useful to Hive, if built. All while training new developers to use the Hive development stack. One should remember: Poland gives an impressive number of devs to Hive already (relative to the total number of devs on Hive)!

PeakD Added a Series of Updates

I always liked badges.

Besides badges, they worked to be able to add maps by editing old posts, and a series of updates to snaps. Here are the details.

Clive Added "Known Exchanges"

Clive added support for known exchanges, which both recognizes them and sets the accepted coin and makes the memo mandatory (at the interface level).

GIFU: Memecoins, Anyone?

GIFU is a deflationary memecoin built on BSC by @raymondspeaks with the help of @stickupboys (who makes the GIFs). Instead of JPEGs, we have GIFs, so you know how this works... The GIFUs can be ported on Hive-Engine as SWAP.GIFU. Here are some details here and here.

Splinterlands Marketing

Splinterlands hired Blaze, someone from the community with a marketing background to lead marketing full time for the company. He will be paid partially in SPS. Matt also mentioned he is trying to get onboard, part-time, a marketer with good experience in the space.

About that and other topics you can find out in the Splinterlands Town Hall.

Communities / Meetups

Potential Plagiarism in the Hive Chinese Community

@oflyhigh warns about proofs of plagiarism in the Chinese community on Hive. This is a difficult subject to follow for non-native speakers, since comments are not translated by automated translators.

Week in the Crypto World

Kraken Joins Binance and Coinbase, Building Its Own Blockchain

Kraken will build a L2 chain on Optimism Superchain, backed by Ethereum's security and governance. It's the 3rd major exchange that takes this route, after Binance with BSC, and more recently, Coinbase with Base.

The token and mainnet will not be launched until 2025, although now the chain is available for developers. Read more here.

Profits Before Anything Else

I found an article with a title that intrigued me: "Microsoft asks shareholders to vote against an assessment of investing in Bitcoin in SEC filing".

After reading through the article, it seems like a shareholder (or a group) are putting to a vote at the annual shareholders meeting that Microsoft should begin the assessment of investment in Bitcoin. The Board responds that they are already carefully considering Bitcoin as an investment option, and no assessment is needed, and that shareholders should vote against this proposal.

What perplexed me in the argumentation of the proposer(s), was that both Microsoft and Microstrategy are technology companies, and look how well Microstrategy is doing by investing in BTC...

incredible! Microstrategy invested in BTC because it was failing as a technology company, and it certainly is not one today. To compare Microsoft with Microstrategy as technology companies is almost a blasphemy, as much as the former is not very loved due to its monopolistic practices from the past, and possibly, to an extent, present (I am unaware about the current situation).
