Whenever I check on my social media, there is a typical type of posting style that I can't help but notice... the ones that are trying to impress others with their lifestyle. While some are doing well with their life they can afford fancy things and events, while others are trying to appear that they can even though they do not have the means to afford it. I believe they have their reasons why they do such things and I'm not in a position to judge them anyway so I simply skip and move on with my life as well.
The reason why I brought it up is because of my curiosity. I wonder why I rarely or don't observe those kinds of behavior here in Hive. It made me realize that the majority of the users here are genuine with what they share in their posts. They are sharing their thoughts, opinions, travel, food recipes, and artwork. It's as simple as that. I can feel the authenticity of the content. And I like this kind of culture that is prevailing here in the Hive platform.
It seems that people value authenticity over lavish lifestyle posts. The readers or viewers can relate to the posts that showcase someone's mundane but real lifestyle instead of the kinds of posts that are trying to showcase luxury. I'm not quite sure but I never came across a high-value user or a whale that shows how rich he/she is. Even though they are in a position to brag they rather show a side of their life that relates to Hive, crypto, technical knowledge, and even the "mundaneness" of their lifestyle.
I'm starting to believe that a reason social media users why feel the need to brag is because they feel proud that they can showcase their achievements. Maybe they wanted to announce to everyone who follows them that they are capable enough to be wealthy. I guess they feel the need to uplift their social status so they are eager to let other people know that are successful in life.
While the web3 users are doing the opposite. Since we value anonymity, we tend to shy away from bragging. We don't even need to brag about something that is publicly known. Your account information is your identification that tells your status on the platform.
It's interesting to think that even though every one of us is anonymous, we choose not to adopt the same behavior that the people on social media are doing. The anonymous users in web3 may simply post how lavish their lifestyle is, however, they rather talk about the things that make sense and that people can relate to. I guess we prefer to share more about our objective thoughts and our crypto venture that are useful to others for their growth.
