Here I am.
On a Sunday.
A little bit anxious and a little bit unmotivated to write.
Yet here I am.
I'm writing because I intend to honor the commitment I've made to myself to accumulate 200,000 Hive Power by the year 2030, my BHAG or "big hairy audacious goal".
I'm doing what I DON'T want to do now as an exercise in discipline in order to get what I DO want in life later on.
Why don't people save money?
Lack of discipline
Why are people out of shape?
Lack of discipline
Why don't people develop a new skill?
Lack of discipline
I wasn't born into a wealthy family and I don't posses above average intelligence, skills or knowledge of any kind, but I do have determination and discipline to see things through, and I will see THIS thing through to the very end.
Why do I want 200,000 Hive Power?
I set this particular goal for myself in September 2022 after tracking my behavior on the Hive blockchain for about a year. I know how often I'm able to write blog posts and make videos and I know more or less how much fiat I'm able to convert to $HIVE every month to meet my monthly goal.
I've been able to stay on track with less than single digit % variation for two years now. I'm only slightly below my target this year because I've set aside some dry powder (7,000 liquid Hive) in case the price of $HIVE sees some price action in a bull run in 2024 or 2025. But my intention is to convert it to $HBD when the price is high and back into HIVE when the price settles back down.
Here are some reasons why I've set this ambitious goal for myself:
Wealth
I set this goal for myself because I believe HIVE has given anybody the opportunity to create life-changing wealth. I believe the tools available on hive NOW are incredibly powerful and will only get better with time. There are also new tools being developed like SPK Network, Break away communities, VSC, INLEO Dex and others, and I believe with the growth of the Hive ecosystem will come price appreciation. What is the correct price of $HIVE? nobody knows, but It could very well be in the $5 to $10 range at minimum. Some people have even said they don't see a $40 or $100 HIVE as out of the question. I'm a bit more conservative and believe $5 is about right. If you are disciplined, and accumulate a large amount of HIVE when that happens, You will be able to exchange some of your HIVE for services and even food (like I'm doing in my #spendhbd videos).
I intend to turn my HIVE holdings into another stream of income. Here's some very rough math:
200,000 HP x 8% in curation x $5 price = $6K a month that can be spent anywhere that accepts Bitcoin, or $HIVE/$HBD OR can be reinvested.
Voice
As more people flock to the Hive ecosystem, we, the users, need to vote on what happens within our ecosystem. As you may know, the Hive blockchain operates on a delegated proof of stake consensus (DPoS) in which we use our stake to vote for witnesses to make decisions about developments or changes to the blockchain. I intend to be part of that governance and I need to have as much stake as possible so that decisions are not made by only the very powerful whales (accounts with more than 500,000 HP).
Curation
I also removed all my delegation to curation guilds. I only curate manually. I upvote content that I find interesting, educational and generally add value to the ecosystem. I understand this is somewhat subjective, but I have my parameters to judge what to consider valuable. I intend to find and vote for this content in order to incentivize other users to start or continue to create this type of content in order to get upvotes or tips from me.
Here's a detailed blog post on my thoughts on curation:

Lambos
Because of reasons.
(obviously a joke)
This is my goal. And those are the reasons I intend to reach it.
I didn't feel like writing this post, but I did it anyway.
See you in 2030.
