Agatha All Along (2024): S01-E01+E02 - RECAP

Agatha All Along” is a TV series I have been waiting on, truth is I like all kind of content related to magic stuff and imaginary worlds so on Monday I decided to watch the first couple of episodes (1 & 2) and it felt like very well produce content, never felt cheap or cringe or exaggerated, has a lot of elements of suspense that make you curious about figuring out things specially when you are not a full blown WandaVision fan where part of the story comes from, it was a great watch.

As soon as the show begins, you can tell that it is going to be a good one, the opening credits are this amazing fusion of old television show vibes and new Marvel vibes, complete with a TV screen that flickers like an old CRT television that pays homage to the “WandaVision” episodes, it’s like the creators of the show took all the best aspects of WandaVision and then made it even better.

Lets start with what this series is about, we have Agatha Harkness, the witch troublemaker of the MCU trapped in a spell by the Scarlet Witch who recently got smash in the movie "Multiverse of Madness. It has been three years since the events of the show WandaVision and Agatha has been living in this TV reality show which is a mix of crime dramas like "Deadloch", for anyone who does not know the story the first episodes starts as it was a total different show, you could actually believe that you are watching the wrong show, with Agatha been an investigator behaving like a regular person also been a dick the entire time until she goes to a crime scene where there is a body, red hair, all black fingers, you know that is Wanda.

Agatha is fully submerge into this world of crime investigator that is only happening on her head, examining a corpse and if you are watching closely you will notice all these clues that could point to Scarlet Witch but even with all this in her face, Agatha doesn’t even know it because she is under a spell, weird thing is that I thought spells disappear once the witch dies, does this mean she is not dead or spell rules on the MCU are different?.

Here comes Billy or as Agatha call him a few times "Teen", from what I found online he is the son of Scarlet Witch who is a teenager now and has no memory of his superhero family although I got no clue how Wanda got a kid but on "Multiverse of Madness" she was obsess with her kids on a different Universe?!. The point is that Billy has a goal, which is to walk the Witch’s Road, a place that is in this world, but only witches can see it or enter, it’s all very mysterious and awesome and you can tell that this is leading to some big things for the future of the supernatural in the MCU, there is also some musical part so far only singing for those who don't like musical, they are with me as long as it doesn't take over the action from the episode.

The cast in this series is full of very well known faces, a phenomenal cast with Kathryn Hahn as Agatha as always with that big smile and dark humor, her performance is spot on and entertaining. She has this kind of both funny and evil character that makes you want her to win even though you probably shouldn’t, the way in which she speaks such charisma and dramatic tone where ever she goes is just awesome.

I personally haven't seen Joe Locke before, but I have to say so far he has been very funny and good at developing his role, is his role a bit queer? well it looks like but that's not something in my interest of that would make me not watch the series, bellow all that Gothic Teen aspect there is a lot of muscle when it comes to acting, some of the best moments are when he just cant say his name, when ever he stars talking about himself an Agatha can't hear him or he is attempting to snap Agatha out of her trance, and you can tell that he’s just a kid who knows he’s destined for something great but just doesn’t quite know what.

Aubrey Plaza, who played Rio Vidal, she is quite the enigma and you can tell she is going to cause some trouble, I lover her bad ass character and from clips I have seen she ends up working with Agatha. The chemistry between her and Agatha, the way she portrays a woman with some past issues with her partner is amazing.

Agatha All Along is like a hunt mission for MCU fans, they keep pointing at WandaVision and some other aspects of the MCU, that will make you pause, stop and go back to try to figure out what some scenes are all about. I like the scene when they find the library card among, it is for the Westview Library and I guess all the dates on it are important, although they only reveal the times when Agatha and Wanda pull the Darkhold also known as the Book of Sins, there is a lot of details into this series, I might even want to find out what the other dates in the card mean.

The biggest puzzle for me as a regular average viewer is Billy, Wanda's son. Its a bit contradictory she had a son, I feel like I'm missing a lot of information that either the series will give out latter on or I will have to figure out for myself once its over, I have gone through this with other series that are based on some story or books and I usually decide to watch until the end and just wait, so I don't spoil things for myself, it sucks when that happens and the internet is an expert at it specially people on Youtube explaining the entire story before new episodes happen, similar to House of The Dragon, spoilers all over the internet and I don't want to go through the same with this series so I'll just wait for things to evolve.

After watching the fist two episodes there are a couple of things you need to know before jumping in, either if you going to catch it from here or wait until the first season is over. First is that you need to know who Wanda is or at least watch "Multiverse of Madness" movie, that will provide you some backstory to this series, better if you also watch "WandaVision" series if not and you come in blank, there will be a lot of jokes and details that will get you confuse to the point you feel lost and things don't make much sense like they are totally random, when its not the case.

Each of the two episodes ending make perfect sense with each other and even though second episodes ends up in a cliff hanger I think it was expected knowing that Agatha and her Coven either were about to get into the Witches Road or get destroy by the Salem Seven. So far this series look like the Deadpool & Wolverine of TV series for Marvel, its like the plain crash with She-Hulk and Secret Invasion, now after ECHO they starting to lift up to the point that Agatha All Along could be the series that bring them back on track to the glory days, rock solid 8/10 so far for this series.
