Hello hello, Movies & TV Shows community. In the eternal search for content to watch, a couple of weeks ago I came across a somewhat strange animated series, Hit Monkey. I readed the synopsis and it made me so intrigued that I decided to watch it, but I couldn't do it until this work break for Carnival. Without further ado, I will start my review.
Hola hola, comunidad Movies & TV Shows. En la eterna búsqueda de contenido para ver, hace un par de semanas me topé con una serie animada un tanto extraña, Hit Monkey. Leí la sinopsis y me generó tanta intriga que decidí verla, pero no pude hacerlo hasta esta pausa laboral por Carnavales. Sin más preámbulos, iniciaré mi review.

Like most Marvel series and movies, Hit Monkey is based on the homonymous comic created by Daniel Way and Dalibor Talajić in 2010. This adaptation, brought to us by the streaming services Disney+ and Hulu, is about a red-faced monkey with white fur. who lives with his pack in the Japanese snowy mountains, who becomes a master of martial arts and handling weapons. His pack was brutally murdered by a group seeking to assassinate Bryce, a notorious and flamboyant assassin whose assassination attempt on a Japanese politician is successful and is hunted for it.
Como la mayoría de series y películas de Marvel, Hit Monkey está basado en el cómic homónimo creado por Daniel Way y Dalibor Talajić en 2010. Esta adaptación que nos traen los servicios de streaming Disney+ y Hulu, trata de un mono cara roja de pelaje blanco que habita con su manada en las montañas nevadas japonesas, que se convierte en un maestro de las artes marciales y el manejo de armas. Su manada fue brutalmente asesinada por un grupo que buscaba asesinar a Bryce, un asesino famoso y extravagante cuyo intento de asesinato a un político japonés es exitoso y es perseguido por ello.

This animated series is not suitable for all tastes, it is aimed at those who love blood, fights and unceremonious shootings. Why? Here you will see a monkey dressed in a suit and sunglasses killing whoever is his target right and left using either pistols, machine guns, swords, knives or his own... legs (?). I really thought it was a very good series, entertaining and interesting, especially for the amount of blood and violence that we see, unusual in Marvel.
Esta serie animada no es apta para todos los gustos, va dirigida para aquellos que amen la sangre, peleas y balaceras sin contemplaciones. ¿Por qué? Aquí verás a un mono ataviado con un trje y lentes de sol matando a diestra y siniestra a quien sea su objetivo usando bien pistolas, metralletas, espadas,cuchillos o sus propias... patas (?). De verdad me pareció una serie muy buena, entretenida e interesante, sobretodo para la cantidad de sangre y violencia que vemos, poco común en Marvel.

Let's talk about the plot first. Hit-Monkey's tribe was killed in cold blood trying to defend Bryce (effort in vain), so he swears to take revenge and kill the culprits until none remain. Bryce's spiritual form accompanies and guides the protagonist monkey, and on his way he meets other people who will help him and others who will be stones in his shoes (colloquially said because ironically, Hit Monkey doesn't wear shoes). At first, the monkey hated Bryce seeing him as a threat, but when he becomes his daily companion, they form an indestructible and very rewarding connection.
Primero hablemos de la trama. La tribu de Hit-Monkey fue asesinada a sangre fría al intentar defender a Bryce (esfuerzo en vano), por lo que jura tomar venganza y asesinar a los culpables hasta no quedar ni uno. La forma espiritual de Bryce acompaña y guía al mono protagonista, y en su camino conoce a otras personas que lo ayudarán y otros quienes serán piedras en sus zapatos (dicho coloquialmente porque irónicamente, Hit Monkey no usa zapatos). Primero, el mono odiaba a Bryce al verlo como una amenaza para su manada, pero cuando se convierte en su compañía diaria, forman una conexión indestructible y muy provechosa.

The voices that bring Bryce and Hit Monkey to life are two actors who, when reading their names, seemed familiar to me, but I couldn't associate them with a production without Googling them: Jason Sudeikis voiced Bryce and Fred Tatasciore played Hit Monkey. The animation, despite not being identical, reminded me of another series from last year as bloody, violent and raw as this one: Invincible. I think HM's animation is a bit behind as I found it a bit dizzying and visually awkward in certain scenes. Outside of that, the cruelty, coldness and viscerality of the series are staged to perfection. It's so explicit that it doesn't seem like something out of a Marvel comic, but more like a "fanfic" or a Japanese production where limits exist only to be transgressed.
Las voces que dan vida a Bryce y Hit Monkey son dos actores que al leer sus nombres me resultaron familiares pero no pude asociarlos a alguna producción sin buscarlos en Google: Jason Sudeikis interpreta la voz de Bryce y Fred Tatasciore a Hit Monkey. La animación, a pesar de no ser idéntica, me recordó a otra serie del año pasado tan sangrienta, violenta y cruda como esta: Invencible. Creo que la animación de HM está un poco por detrás, ya que la encontré un poco mareante e incómoda visualmente en ciertas escenas. Fuera de eso, la crueldad, frialdad y visceralidad de la serie se escenifican a la perfección. Es tan explícita que no parece salida de un cómic de Marvel, sino parece más bien un "fanfic" o una producción japonesa donde los límites existen solamente para ser transgredidos.

As for the length of the series, there are only ten (10) episodes of a little less than thirty (30) minutes, so it can easily be seen in two days, and if you really like it, half a day is more than enough to finish it. In addition to being violent and bloody, it also has good comedy and satire that will surely make you laugh more than once. One that made me laugh was Bryce in ghost mode telling HM that he felt like Patrick Swayze and that the monkey was Demi Moore like in Ghost. Another thing that makes me laugh is inconsistencies like the fact that Bryce being a ghost can go through walls, doors, not be able to touch humans or control a TV, but he can sit on a bed... What?
En cuanto a longitud de la serie, son solo diez (10) episodios de un poco menos de treinta (30) minutos, así que fácilmente se puede ver en dos días, y si realmente te está gustando, medio día es más que suficiente para terminarla. Aunado a lo violenta y sangrienta, también tiene buena comedia y sátiras que seguro te sacarán más de una risa. Una que me causó mucha gracia fue Bryce en modo fantasma diciéndole a HM que se sentía como Patrick Swayze y que el mono era Demi Moore como en Ghost: la sombra del amor. Otra cosa que me da risa es incongruencias como el hecho de que Bryce siendo un fantasma pueda atravesar paredes, puertas, no ser capaz de tocar humanos o el control de una TV, pero sí pueda sentarse sobre una cama... ¿Qué?

In each chapter there is a final "boss", a powerful supervillain hired to deliver Hit Monkey dead or alive to a person who remains secret, just gives orders and others obey. Hit Monkey along with Bryce, must overcome all the obstacles that they place to find the whereabouts of the mastermind after the murder of Bryce and the rest of the monkeys so that Hit Monkey can satisfy his thirst for revenge, while cleaning the city of Tokyo of murderers, thieves and all kinds of antisocials on the way to reach their goal.
En cada capítulo hay un "boss" final, un supervillano poderoso contratado para entregar a Hit Monkey vivo o muerto a una persona que permanece en secreto, solo da órdenes y los demás obedecen. Hit Monkey junto a Bryce, deben sobrepasar todos los obstáculos que les colocan para dar con el paradero de la mente maestra tras el asesinato de Bryce y el resto de los monos para que Hit Monkey pueda satisfacer su sed de venganza, mientras limpia la ciudad de Tokyo de asesinos, ladrones y toda clase de antisociales en el camino a alcanzar su meta.

🗣 Comentarios finales / Final comments 🗣
In summary, Hit Monkey is a short animated series full of violence, blood and very funny moments that you will surely enjoy. It has a good story, pretty decent animation, guaranteed action, gallons of blood, very graphic and ruthless murders and guts everywhere. It completely leaves the script that Marvel has accustomed us to (with exceptions like Daredevil) and I liked that a lot, a fresh air for the fans. Could it be that it is faithful to the comic and Spider-Man and Deadpool come out? If you want to know, I invite you to see Hit Monkey.
En resumen, Hit Monkey es una serie animada corta full de violencia, sangre y momentos muy graciosos que seguro disfrutarás. Tiene una buena historia, animación bastante decente, acción garantizada, galones de sangre, asesinatos muy gráficos y despiadados y entrañas por todos lados. Se sale completamente del guión que nos tiene acostumbrados Marvel (con excepciones como Daredevil) y eso me gustó mucho, un aire fresco para los fanáticos. ¿Será que es fiel al cómic y salen Spider-Man y Deadpool? Si quieres saberlo, te invito a ver Hit Monkey.
