Paul Newman here is the main interpreter of a masterpiece by Sidney Lumet based on the novel by Barry Reed. The verdict is not just a trial: it is also a rebirth; Frank Galvin, our lawyer (Paul Newman) is adrift, in an oblivion with no more purpose, his life a slow slide backwards, dragging himself between lounge bars and alcohol; This happens to some of us when we are failed by justice; it's the people who have an unshakable faith in it and Frank is one of them. In fact, years before this collapse he was deceived by the law firm where he worked; they had bought a juror; Frank ruins his life but reports what happened and is fired from the firm but the most serious thing is that he loses faith: in the judicial system and in people, until he finds himself facing the procedure that will change his life: a case of medical malpractice!!! It could be the cause of his life, he could get rich without effort since the economic transaction is all too easy: 210 million dollars in compensation! But then his desire for justice and his faith in it re-emerge and he decides to refuse the transaction. He takes back his life, his beliefs and his values and courageously faces the trial despite all the negative circumstances surrounding this case. Even if there is no action or sensational twists I find it an excellent film, built on the character in an intelligent way, a cult legal film that all those who love cinema should watch

Il verdetto non è solamente un processo: è anche una rinascita;
Frank Galvin, il nostro avvocato (Paul Newman) è alla deriva, in un oblio senza più alcuno scopo, la sua vita è un lento scivolare all'indietro, trascinandosi tra lounge bar e alcool;
Questo accade ad alcuni di noi quando vengono delusi dalla giustizia; sono le persone che hanno una fede incrollabile in essa e Frank è una di queste.
Infatti anni prima di questo crollo è stato ingannato proprio dallo studio legale dove lavorava; avevano comprato un giurato;
Frank si rovina la vita ma denuncia l'accaduto e viene licenziato dallo studio me la cosa più grave è che perde la fiducia : nel sistema giudiziario enelle persone, fino a quando non gli capita di dovere riscattarsi con una causa dove la transazione economica è fin troppo facile:
210 milioni di dollari di risarcimento!
Ecco che la sua voglia di giustizia e la sua fede in essa riemergono e decide di rifiutare la transazione.
Riprende in mano la sua vita il suo credo ed i suoi valori e coraggiosamente, affronta il processo a dispetto di tutte le circostanze negative che girano intorno a questo caso.
Anche se non c'è azione o colpi di scena eclatanti lo trovo un ottimo film, costruito sul personaggio in maniera intelligente, un legal movie cult che tutti coloro che amano il cinema dovrebbero guardare
