The Matrix Resurrections Review

Was it really possible to make a fourth matrix movie that was going to be loved by the audience? It is easy to assume that everyone entered the movie theater conditioned to dislike the fourth movie.

I believe it might be close to impossible to make a comeback movie that people will love again.

“Remember, all I’m offering is the truth. Nothing more."- Morpheus, ‘The Matrix' (1999).

Matrix is one of my favorite movies too as I watched the first three movies countless times. So I was one of the hesitant ones.

I don't think we can say that The Matrix Resurrections is a bad movie, it is entirely up to your expectations. If you want nostalgia and entertainment you will find what you expect.🔵 If you want originality and a new way of looking into the new Matrix World,🔴 I think you will not like this one that much.

I will talk about the first part of the movie without going into details, in the new Matrix, Thomas Anderson, aka Neo, is a very famous game designer in San Francisco; but it is as if the life he lived is not his, it is not real. The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, and The Matrix Revolutions movies are actually games created by Thomas(aka Neo), and Warner Bros. wants to create the fourth. The company is pushing him.

Here, the film explicitly tries to point out that Matrix Resurrections was filmed because of institutional pressure, using the Warner Bros. name as well. Lana was forced to make the fourth movie, and in the movie, Neo is forced to make a fourth game. But Neo specifically says that the game is finished and there is no need to make a fourth one, showings us how Lana feels.

“You have a problem with authority, Mr. Anderson. You believe you are special, that somehow the rules do not apply to you. Obviously, you are mistaken.”
Rinehart, ‘The Matrix' (1999).

I liked how she found a way to show us what was happening behind the closed doors of Warner Bros. I found it a very clever way to say ''Look, I don't really want to do this movie too, but if I don't, they will ruin it more.''

The first hour definitely won't appeal to the old Matrix fans as it has zero action, mostly goes in the Matrix Universe as Neo gains concıesnous and the second part of the movie entirely focuses on Neo trying to find a way to resurrect Trinity, who is a character I totally adore so I appreciated watching her.

The second part has a state of acceptance and peace that the magic of technology goes beyond a machine, code, or representation that we can see with the naked eye—and that's not such a bad thing. For this reason, it gradually turns into a relentless love movie in which the love between Neo and Trinity is not symbolized and directly becomes the main purpose of the narrative.
I won't be surprised if people find themselves feeling like watching a romantic comedy, but a really nice one I must say.

As Morpheus Says “There is nothing better to soothe anxiety than a little nostalgia.”
I guess this is what Lana tried to give us.

But I must say I would like to see more of that eye-opening philosophical questions being the center of the movie, as that was what Matrix is about in the first place. 💊

The simulacrum is never that which conceals the truth—it is the truth which conceals that there is none. The simulacrum is true.
Jean Baudrillard
