Movie Recommandation, Novecento 1900

Last night in my dream i was in high school and was trying to introduce David Lynch movies to a friend of mine, trying to write Twin Peaks on a paper, accidentally writing Twin Freaks repeatedly.. Twin Freaks Twin Freaks...... and I woke up,

My subconsıous is really messed up. I know. Yet, I come here with a movie recommendation. I would like to write more about Lynch one day but today is about my favorite one. A modern epic movie directed and scripted by the master director Bernardo Bertolucci. In this movie called 1900 (Novecento) (1976), the political changes in Italy and the world war are told through the landowner Berlinghieri Family. The film is about two children whom are born in aristocratic farm in Emilia Romagna, in the northern Italian provincial region: Olmo Dalco (Gerard Depardieu), the illegitimate son of a farmworker on the farm, while his peer Alfredo Berlinghieri (Robert De Niro) is born into a wealthy land-owning family. And he is the heir. The movie examines the class conflict between two characters as they grow up.

Although Olmo and Alfredo belong to two different worlds, a friendship develops between the two. However, with the changing conditions, these two children feel the tensions related to class differences starting from childhood, and this tension causes a friendship to turn into enmity over time. While the destitute Olmo turns into a pro-socialist activist, Alfredo, who lives in extravagance and debauchery, indirectly becomes a supporter of the rising fascist political climate.

In the film, the worker-boss relationship and the workers' revolution under the leadership of Olmo Dalco are perfectly explained through the different political views of two adults. With the movie 1900/Novecento, the director manages to write his name in the history of cinema with golden letters, both with his exquisite cast consisting of names such as Robert De Niro and Gerard Depardieu, and with his story that very well describes the collision of two opposite ideologies such as leftist and fascist in the same generation and succeeds in transferring this to the cinema well.

While watching this 317-minute historical production, you will witness that every scene of the movie screen is filled with striking frames that mirror the recent history of Italy.
