Seré honesta, solo buscaba una serie que oír (más que ver) mientras pintaba. Una serie que fuera relajada, tranquila, poco drama. Y así me encontré con “El niñero” en Netflix.
Inicialmente me pareció curioso que fuera un niñero ranchero y tuviera un cerdito. La sinopsis era sencilla: Gaby, el niñero, es contratado por Jimena, una ejecutiva madre de 3 niños en un momento de desesperación.

Una temática principal de esta serie: los roles de género en cargos de poder. Jimena busca ser reconocida por su padre y elegida para ser la presidenta de la financiera, que es un negocio familiar. Compite con su primo Rogelio, al que evidentemente toman más en cuenta solo por el hecho de ser hombre y que en sus prácticas se nota que no es exactamente el más honrado.
Gaby, nuestro niñero, es también un ranchero y resulta ser mucho más inteligente de lo que piensan muchos de los hombres en la serie que lo juzgan con comportamientos machistas (como el papá de Jimena, Rogelio y el ex marido de Jimena). Y si todavía no están seguros, les juro que la vi por la trama.

I'll be honest, I was just looking for a series to listen to (rather than watch) while painting. A series that was relaxed, calm, low drama. And so I came across "The Babysitter" on Netflix.
Initially I found it curious that it was a rancher babysitter and had a piggy. The synopsis was simple: Gaby, the nanny, is hired by Jimena, an executive mother of 3 children in a moment of desperation.

A main theme of this series: gender roles in positions of power. Jimena seeks to be recognized by her father and elected to be the president of the finance company, which is a family business. I must say that even though it has the look of a soap opera, it turned out to be a fresh, fun, easy to watch series that touches on some pretty deep and current issues in a subtle and calm way.
And if you're still not sure, I swear I watched it for the plot.
