Trust me, I looked everywhere in this community.... I didn't find any post or review that had sarcasm content as beautifully done as "Fleabag". A series that shatters paradigms and perceptions of women from the movies. There is no saviour or prince charming, let alone a pregnancy and a happy family (which doesn't mean that having one is a "bad" thing) there is only a unique perspective of its protagonist (who is called "Fleabag", hence the name of the series) and how she lives.
And yes, even though it seems like a stupid and empty series.... Nothing could be further from that label. In fact, the plot of the series is a very bloody and very dark drama "How would you feel if you had sex with your best friend's boyfriend; and because of that, she decided to commit suicide? It sounds crazy... Since this series is focused on satirical humour and plenty of sarcasm.

Nevertheless, from the script, it is the drama that drives the whole story. How to deal with guilt without the hints of religion, conservative morality and above all tormented by a conscience that gives you no respite? These stark and powerful mixtures are some of Fleabag's many attractions. And it's incredible, because although everything made in the UK, and even more so on Channel Four or the BBC usually contains a lot of sarcastic material, it is no less true that no production I know of has the richness of script and originality that this precious work of art has....
I'm not lying when I tell you that the fourth wall breaking (cinematic technique) has never been so well executed and so beautifully applied. Not only because it is an essential part of the connection between the audience and the protagonist, but also because it is believable. I, a woman in my thirties, just like the protagonist, identify with the details, the gestures, the creative decisions and the brilliantly crafted script that have been made for this series.

Additionally, much of the story within the plots of Fleabag are conflicts that each and every one of us could experience. The fact that it is created, starring and written by a woman is a major plus, but if these details are not known or mentioned, it still results in a true masterpiece of sarcasm..... And because nothing exquisitely crafted can last too long, Fleabag only runs for two 6-episode seasons; each episode is 30 minutes long?
There are no heroes or villains. Just human mistakes, a feminine but never skewed view of the life of a highly flawed human in a society that pretends not to be flawed but lacks the character to trumpet the morality it constantly fails. There is no spoiler here, nor will there ever be. I am one of those who think that it is for the viewer to judge when watching the play.... On Amazon Prime Video is Fleabag. Fully in HD and like a good under-appreciated treasure, waiting to be seen. "Fleabag: Between simplicity and remaining a masterpiece of sarcasm.
