Hey everyone, how's it going? I've been a Batman fan since my childhood so when The Batman was announced I was on the lookout for any news about this movie. As the trailers were released I got more and more excited for the movie, as they showed a very different vision to everything that had been done with the character till now. Another aspect that also caught my attention was the film was directed by Matt Reeves, the director of the last two Planet of the Apes movies, which are among my favorite films of all time. All this make me think The Batman could be a masterpiece. So the big question is, did it live up to my expectations? we will see it below.

A medida que se liberaban los Trailers me entusiasmaba más por la cinta, ya que estos mostraban una visión muy diferente a todo lo que se había del personaje hasta entonces. Otro aspecto que también capto mi atención, fue que la cinta estaba a cargo de Matt Reeves, el director de las últimas dos películas de El planeta de los simios, las cuales están entre mis cintas favoritas de todos los tiempos, todo estaba preparado para que The Batman fuese una obra maestra. PLOT/ARGUMENTO
The story of the film takes place during Batman's second year as a vigilante, starting with the murder Gotham City`s mayor, by this time Gordon and Batman are already working together solving crimes, however the rest of the police forces still distrusts the masked vigilante. This creates tension between Gordon and his superior, because the not-yet-commissioner always allows Batman to get involved in police investigations without any authorization. However this is not an ordinary crime scene, as they find a note specifically addressed to Batman. We then see how Alfred and Bruce have disagreements, regarding Batman's fight against crime and how this is affecting the Wayne family's image and legacy. But despite their differences, Alfred helps Bruce in his investigation and together they manage to uncover an important clue.
La historia de la película se desarrolla durante el segundo año de Batman como justiciero partiendo con el asesinato del alcalde de ciudad Gótica, para este tiempo Gordon y Batman ya trabajan en conjunto resolviendo crímenes, sin embargo el resto del cuerpo de policía aun desconfía del vigilante enmascarado. Esto crea tensión entre Gordon y su superior, porque él todavía no comisionado siempre permite que Batman se involucre en las investigaciones sin ninguna autorización. Later we see Gordon and Batman analyzing information that leads the search to a nightclub owned by a member of Gotham's criminal elite. There Batman discovers new details that lead him to his first encounter with Selina Kyle. Then The Riddler makes his public appearance through Gotham's newscasts, declaring to be the author of the mayor's murder and at the same time, he reveals part of his twisted plans for the city. Then we see Gordon and Batman discovering new clues that point to some corrupt members within the Gotham police, they also find a new note from The Riddle to The Batman. Later Batman and Selina team up to have her look for more information inside the nightclub where she works, in that place they discover that more public figures of Gotham are involved in the City's corruption, then we see The Riddle murdering another public figure.
Más adelante vemos a Gordon y a Batman analizando una información que conduce la búsqueda, hacia un club nocturno propiedad de un miembro de la elite criminal en Gótica. Allí Batman descubre nuevos detalles que lo llevan a su primer encuentro con Selina Kyle. Seguidamente el acertijo hace acto de presencia a través de los noticieros de Gotham, declarando ser el autor del asesinato del alcalde y al mismo tiempo, revela sus retorcidos planes para la ciudad. Después vemos a Gordon y Batman continuando la investigación, hasta descubrir nuevas pistas que apuntan a algunos miembros corruptos dentro de la policía de Gotham, además encuentran una nueva nota del acertijo para Batman. Posteriormente Batman y Selina se alían para que ella busque más información dentro del club nocturno donde trabaja, en ese lugar descubren que más figuras públicas de Gotham son parte de la corrupción, seguidamente vemos al acertijo asesinar a otra figura pública.

After that it is shown the discontent of several citizens about what is happening and Bruce finally makes an appearance during the funeral of the most recent victim. However this event is interrupted by another attack orchestrated by The Riddle, causing the immediately evacuation of the place. Batman then appears on the scene to investigate but the situation ends with another tragedy. This causes the police's distrust on the masked vigilante to intensify, prompting Gordon to take another risk to help him. After a dangerous escape, Batman and Gordon reunite and continue their investigation through a mob-controlled area. At this point Selina and Batman cross paths and make a terrible discoverment, however they are ambushed by an important member of the mob and his thugs, leading to a relentles chase that ends with the intense interrogation of this pivotal crime figure, here it is revealed that Batman and Gordon made a mistake in their investigation.
Más adelante se nos muestra el descontento de varios ciudadanos por lo que está sucediendo y finalmente Bruce hace acto de presencia durante el funeral de la más reciente víctima. Sin embargo el evento es interrumpido por otro ataque orquestado por el acertijo, provocando que evacuen el lugar inmediatamente. Entonces Batman aparece en escena para investigar pero la situación termina con otra tragedia. Esto provoca que se intensifique la desconfianza de la policía hacia el vigilante enmascarado, haciendo que Gordon se arriesgué una vez más para ayudarlo. Después de una peligrosa huida, Batman y Gordon se reúnen y continúan su investigación por una zona controlada por las mafias. This leads them to another location where information about the identity of the next victim of the riddle is revealed. At this point the events become more personal for Bruce, because he finds out controversial details about his family's past. Later Batman and Selina meet, here she tells him about her intentions and the difficulties she has faced throughout her whole life. Later with the help of his allies, Batman manages to capture the crimelord that rules Gotham, however in the middle of the arrest the guy is killed by the riddle. But the police and Batman manage to find the villains location and arrest him. Then investigating his lair, they find all kinds of information related to his plans. Eventually we see a verbal confrontation between Batman and the Riddler at Arkham Asylum, with the latter explaining details about his life and what drives him to commit these crimes. After this Batman returns to investigate the Riddler's lair, at those moments several detonations occur that destroy the Gotham reservoir and the city is flooded.
In the midst of chaos, a group of extremist riddler`s followers prepare an attack to the place where the citizens are taking refuge, at that moment Batman bursts into the enclosure and fights the threats but things get difficult for him, however thanks to the intervention of Gordon and Selina they manage to put an end to this incident.

En este punto los eventos pasan a ser más personales para Bruce, ya que se revelan oscuros detalles sobre el pasado de su familia. Posteriormente Batman y Selina se reúnen, aquí ella le cuenta sobre sus intenciones y las dificultades que ha tenido que afrontar a lo largo de su vida. Más adelante con la ayuda de sus aliados Batman logra capturar a la principal figura de la mafia que controla a Gótica, sin embargo en pleno arresto el sujeto es asesinado por el acertijo. Sin embargo la policía y Batman logran dar con la ubicación del susodicho villano y lo detienen. Luego investigando su guarida encuentran toda clase de información acerca de sus planes. Posteriormente vemos una confrontación verbal entre Batman y el Acertijo en el asilo Arkham, con este ultimo explicando detalles sobre su vida y lo que lo impulsa a cometer esos crímenes. Tras esto Batman regresa a investigar nuevamente la guarida del acertijo, pero en esos momentos ocurren varias detonaciones que destruyen el embalse de Gótica y la ciudad se inunda.
En medio del caos, un grupo de seguiros extremistas del acertijo prepara su ataque al lugar donde están refugiándose los ciudadanos, en ese momento Batman irrumpe en el recinto y combate las amenazas pero las cosas se le ponen difíciles, así que gracias a la intervención de Gordon y Selina se logra poner fin a este incidente.

Now at Arkham, we see that despite having failed with his last strike, the Riddler begins an apparent alliance with another mysterious inmate. MY OPINION/MI OPINIÓN
First I'm going to talk about what I liked, starting with the soundtrack, its gothic and gloomy style was great to me, at times it reminded me to the themes of Tim Burton's films. On the other hand, it was very interesting to finally see a more dangerous, rough and dirty Gotham City than in previous Batman movies. Another detail that I found remarkable is that The Batman makes strong emphasis on visual language, to communicate what happens without resorting to excessive amount of dialogue, there is a lot to observe. I also liked how this movie shows the most detectiverish version of Batman that has been seen in live-action movies till now, taking everything to a further realistic level than Christopher Nolan's trilogy. As for the performances, I think all the actors did a great job, but I mainly highlight Zoey and Robert as Selina Kyle and Batman respectively, both bring to life a quite different versions of these characters from the ones we have seen before. Showing us a less skilled Batman, who gets to make mistakes and sometimes is too carried away by his obsession to fight crime. On the other hand Selina seeks to overcome traumas and bring justice to many terrible things she has face throughout her life, it is noteworthy that in this film she has not yet fully become Catwoman.
Now talking about the things I liked the least, I think the movie is too long. At the beginning they want us to understand that the criminals are afraid of Batman, at this point this theme seems redundant to me, because all the people who know this character already knows that. In that same line I think the movie has some moments that are superfluous, for example the number of murders that the riddle commits, I think there are too many, with one least the movie could have been benefited. On the other hand I think some characters are somewhat underdeveloped as is the case of Alfred, who appears only in a few scenes and does not contribute too much to the overall plot, another one is Carmine Falcone, which is portrayed as the typical evil mobster we have seen thousands of times in crime thrillers. In this regard I recommend you to watch the animated films Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 and 2, as they show the members of the mafia as deeper and much better developed characters.
Primero voy a hablar de lo me gusto, comenzando por la banda sonora con su estilo gótico y sombrío la cual me pareció muy buena, por momentos me recordó a los temas de las cintas de Tim Burton. Por otro lado, fue muy interesante ver por fin a una ciudad gótica más peligrosa, áspera y sucia que la de anteriores películas de Batman. Otro detalles que me pareció destacable es que The Batman hace fuerte enfusíais en el lenguaje visual, para comunicar lo que sucede sin recurrir a excesiva cantidad de diálogos, hay mucho que observar. También me gusto que esta película muestre a la versión más detectivesca, que se ha visto de Batman en películas de acción real, llevando todo a un nivel más apegado a la realidad de lo que vimos en la trilogía de Christopher Nolan.En cuanto a las actuaciones, creo que todos los actores hicieron un gran trabajo, pero destaco principalmente a Zoey y Robert como Selina Kyle y Batman respectivamente, ambos dan vida a unas versiones de estos personajes bastante diferentes a las que hemos visto anteriormente. Mostrándonos a un Batman menos hábil, que llega a cometer errores y que a veces se deja llevar demasiado por su obsesión de luchar contra el crimen. Por otro lado Selina busca superar traumas y hacer justicia a muchas cosas terribles que ha tenido que soportar a lo largo de su vida, cabe destacar que en esta película ella aún no se ha convertido del todo en Catwoman.
En cuanto a los aspectos que menos me gustaron, pienso que la película es demasiado larga. Al principio nos quieren dar a entender que los criminales le temen a Batman y esto a estas alturas me parece un tema redundante, porque toda la gente que conoce a este personaje ya sabe eso. En esta misma línea me parece que la hay varios momentos que sobran como por ejemplo la cantidad de asesinatos que cometer el acertijo, pienso que no hacía falta que hubiesen tantos para entender el contexto. Por otro lado pienso que algunos personajes están algo desaprovechados como es el caso de Alfred, quien aparece poco en la cinta y no aporta mucho a la trama, otro que cae en esto es Carmine Falcone, el cual es representado simplemente como el típico mafioso malvado que hemos visto miles de veces en thrillers policiacos. Respecto a esto les recomiendo las películas animadas Batman Long Halloween Parte 1 y 2, ya que en ellas muestran a los miembros de las mafias, como unos personajes más profundos y mucho mejor desarrollados.

I have to say in the end The Batman did not meet all my expectations, i think it could have been a better movie, without certain scenes and giving a more substantial role to a few characters. Even so I think it is worth watching, especially for the different approach given to the most famous detective of Gotham.
Tengo que decir que al final The Batman no cumplió con todas mis expectativas, pienso que podría haber sido una mejor pelicula, sin ciertas escenas y dando un papel más sustancial a algunos personajes. Aun así creo que merece la pena verla, sobre todo por el enfoque diferente que se le da al detective más famoso de Gotham.
