Hola mi apreciada comunidad de Motherhood un gusto estar de nuevo por acá, deseando de corazón que todas las madres, padres e hijos que hacen vida por aquí, esten muy bien al lado de sus seres queridos, un placer saludarlos a todos. Como padre, una de las mayores satisfacciones que puedo tener es ver a mis hijos crecer y desarrollarse como personas independientes y responsables. Por eso, cuando me dijeron que querían generar sus propios ingresos, me sentí orgulloso y feliz de apoyarlos en sus proyectos.

Hello my dear Motherhood community, it's a pleasure to be here again, wishing from the bottom of my heart that all the mothers, fathers and children that live here are doing well with their loved ones, a pleasure to greet you all. As a father, one of the greatest satisfactions I can have is to see my children grow and develop as independent and responsible people. That is why, when they told me that they wanted to generate their own income, I was proud and happy to support them in their projects.

Sin embargo, también sabía que no era una tarea fácil, y que debía orientarlos y acompañarlos en este proceso, sin imponerles mis ideas ni limitar su creatividad. ¿Cómo podía hacerlo? Debía pensar bien lo que haría al respecto, aquí les comparto algunas de las estrategias que use para ayudar a mis hijos cuando desearon generar sus propios ingresos. Lo primero que hice fue escucharlos con atención y respeto, sin juzgar ni criticar sus propuestas. Quería que se sintieran libres de expresar sus intereses, pasiones y habilidades, y que me vieran como un aliado y no como un obstáculo. Les hice preguntas para entender mejor sus objetivos, sus motivaciones y sus expectativas, y les di mi opinión honesta y constructiva, reconociendo sus fortalezas y sugiriendo áreas de mejora.

However, I also knew that it was not an easy task, and that I had to guide and accompany them in this process, without imposing my ideas on them or limiting their creativity. How could I do it? I had to think carefully about what I would do about it. Here are some of the strategies I used to help my children when they wanted to generate their own income. The first thing I did was to listen to them carefully and respectfully, without judging or criticizing their proposals. I wanted them to feel free to express their interests, passions and skills, and to see me as an ally and not an obstacle. I asked them questions to better understand their goals, their motivations and their expectations, and I gave them my honest and constructive feedback, recognizing their strengths and suggesting areas for improvement.

Lo segundo que hice fue ayudarlos a hacer un plan de acción, con metas claras y realistas, y con los recursos y herramientas necesarios para llevarlo a cabo. Les enseñé a hacer un presupuesto, a calcular sus gastos e ingresos, a buscar fuentes de financiamiento, a hacer un estudio de mercado, a definir su público objetivo, a diseñar su producto o servicio, a promocionarlo y a evaluar los resultados. Lo anterior puede parecer complicado, pero todo hablado de acuerdo a su edad, ya que son adolescentes. Por eso les mostré algunos ejemplos de otros jóvenes emprendedores que habían logrado éxito con sus ideas, y les recomendé algunos libros, cursos y páginas web que podían consultar para aprender más.

The second thing I did was to help them make a plan of action, with clear and realistic goals, and with the resources and tools necessary to carry it out. I taught them to make a budget, to calculate their expenses and income, to look for sources of financing, to do a market study, to define their target audience, to design their product or service, to promote it and to evaluate the results. The above may seem complicated, but all of this is according to their age, since they are teenagers. That's why I showed them some examples of other young entrepreneurs who had succeeded with their ideas, and recommended some books, courses and websites they could consult to learn more.

Algo importante que no puede faltar, es brindarles mi apoyo incondicional, tanto material como emocional, durante todo el proceso. Les ofrecí mi tiempo, mi espacio, mi dinero y mi experiencia para facilitarles el trabajo, pero sin interferir en sus decisiones ni hacer las cosas por ellos. Les di ánimo, confianza y reconocimiento cuando lo hicieron bien, y les di consuelo, comprensión y consejo cuando se equivocaron o se frustraron. Les celebré cada logro, por pequeño que fuera, y les recordé que el fracaso era una oportunidad de aprendizaje y no un motivo de vergüenza.

Something important that cannot be missing is to give them my unconditional support, both material and emotional, during the whole process. I offered them my time, my space, my money and my experience to facilitate their work, but without interfering in their decisions or doing things for them. I gave them encouragement, confidence and recognition when they did well, and I gave them comfort, understanding and advice when they were wrong or frustrated. I celebrated every achievement, no matter how small, and reminded them that failure was a learning opportunity, not a source of embarrassment.

Creo que estas tres estrategias fueron clave para ayudar a mis hijos a tener una idea de cómo generar sus propios ingresos, y a la vez, a desarrollar su autoestima, su autonomía, su creatividad y su responsabilidad. Estoy seguro de que con estas habilidades, podrán enfrentar cualquier reto que se les presente en el futuro, y que serán felices haciendo lo que les gusta. Como padre, no puedo pedir más.

I believe that these three strategies were key in helping my children to have an idea of how to generate their own income, and at the same time, to develop their self-esteem, autonomy, creativity and responsibility. I am confident that with these skills, they will be able to face any challenge that comes their way in the future, and that they will be happy doing what they love. As a parent, I can't ask for more.
