Сьогодні очевидно, що Україна могла б мати більш суттєві переваги перед ворогом, якби ще до початку війни приділяла більше уваги розбудові збройних сил. Територія України обдарована унікальним природним рельєфом, який сам по собі може слугувати укріпленням від наступу ворога. Потрібно лише навчитись цю перевагу використовувати. Вже в перші місяці повномасштабного вторгнення було зрозуміло, що річки, ліси, болота суттєво заважають ворогу вести наступальні дії.
Україна ніколи не розглядала Білорусь джерелом воєнної загрози, тому напевно і не готувалась до дій з того напрямку.
Річкового флоту дуже не вистачало під час нападу російських військ з півночі уздовж Дніпра та Прип'яті. Тож зараз цю помилку минулих років виправляють,

Нещодавно почув , що для оборони Києва з півночі вже створили базу річкового флоту.
Зараз на Дніпрі діє перший пробний дивізіон суден та катерів, але невдовзі може з'явитись ціла річкова флотилія, покликана зміцнити оборону країни.
Київ отримує базу флоту, поповнити який мають також сучасні американські катери. Командувач ВМФ анонсував, що у недалекому майбутньому на Дніпрі з'явиться ціла флотилія річкових катерів.
"Вона складатиметься з декількох дивізіонів, які будуть розміщені в різних містах на Дніпрі. Будемо нарощувати спроможності за рахунок будівництва нових катерів та отримання техніки від партнерів", - анонсував Неїжпапа.
Наприкінці червня США повідомили, що пентагон планує передати Україні в рамках нового пакету військової допомоги 18 річкових патрульних катерів.
І вони якнайкраще підходять для виконання завдань на Дніпрі, кажуть експерти.

якби в України у лютому 2022 року був хоча б річковий дивізіон, то це неабияк допомогло б обороні з води.
"Це серйозне посилення вогнем з води з флангів, контроль акваторії над водою для недопущення дій ворожої авіації, катерів та диверсійно-розвідувальних груп. Це доставка та евакуація у потрібні місця в усій акваторії груп спеціального призначення або річкового десанту. Це додаткові можливості логістики по воді для усіх сил", - пояснює Чмут.
Від Білорусі до Києва розтягнулись великі річкові простори. І знищити флот там було б для росіян дуже непросто. "Події на морі показують, що наші патрульні катери в прибережній смузі діють креативно і ефективно, у тих самих лиманах. Так само було б і буде на Дніпрі" - переконує експерт з питань флоту Павло Лакійчук.
Я надіюсь, що всі плани по створенню флоту на Дніпрі будуть виконані. Ми всі зацікавлені в тому, щоб з півночі, а також з любого іншого напрямку країна мала міцний захист від ворогів.Мені поки що не дуже зрозуміло , як риболови - аматори та промисловики будуть співіснувати разом в одних водах з військовими катерами. Надіюсь, будуть прописані якісь правила.
