Цю традицію, білити перед Великоднем стовбури дерев, мені передали ще мої батьки. Я залюбки займався цією справою, бо це не важко, а в результаті цієї роботи дерева виглядають святково і гарно. Власне, про те, для чого це треба робити, я особливо не задумувався. Пам'ятаю з дитинства щось про шкідників, мурах, кроликів та інше. Коли я поцікавився, в чому справжня користь від побілки, то відкрив для себе багато нового. Виявляється, що білий колір не дає стовбуру нагріватись на сонці, а тому це оберігає кору від тріщин. Щодо мурах і різних шкідників інформація підтвердилась. Про кроликів- ні. А ще на просторах інтернету багато дискусій щодо доцільності такої процедури. Ніби в багатьох країнах побілка дерев заборонена на законодавчому рівні і взагалі, це лише шкодить дереву, а також суміш на основі вапна шкодить грунту. Може й так, але я довіряю нашим пращурам, думаю, що вони дурного в спадок нам не залишили б. До того ж, коли я загуглив цю тему, то з'ясувалось, що на сьогоднішній день дерева білять в багатьох країнах Європи, практично по всій Америці, а також в Азії. Значить в цьому є якийсь магічний сенс, раз для людей різних континентів це важливо.

I enjoyed doing this work, because it is not difficult, and as a result of this work, the trees look festive and beautiful. Actually, I didn't really think about why it should be done. I remember something about pests, ants, rabbits and other things from my childhood. When I asked what the real benefit of whitening is, I discovered a lot of new things for myself. It turns out that the white color does not allow the trunk to heat up in the sun, and therefore it protects the bark from cracks. Regarding ants and various pests, the information was confirmed. About rabbits - no. And there are many discussions on the Internet about the expediency of such a procedure. It seems that in many countries the whitewashing of trees is prohibited at the legislative level and in general, it only harms the tree, and the lime-based mixture also harms the soil. Maybe so, but I trust our ancestors, I think that they would not have left us a stupid inheritance. In addition, when I googled this topic, it turned out that today trees are turning white in many countries of Europe, almost all over America, and also in Asia. So there is some magical meaning in this, since it is important for people of different continents.
