Day 1 of the 30-day Blogging Challenge (Part 2).

Word "Successful". Who comes to your mind?

Today is the first day of the new 30-Day Blogging Challenge. I'm participating in Part 2 by @macchiata. I decided to take on this new challenge when I read the topics to be covered during the month.

The Challenge begins with an awesome question. Who do you think of as being a successful person?

When it comes to the idea of whether a person will be "successful", it depends on your definition of the word. Over the years, I've learned "successful" is defined by many as having wealth and fame. Some even include power.

However, not all successful people are rich, famous, or powerful. Take me for example. But today's exercise is to talk about someone else whom I feel exemplifies the word.

I believe the word successful means to have a fulfilling life, free of stress or other major obstacles that prevent you from living our your dreams, goals, and aspirations on your timetable. I think it also means to feel safe and secure, happy or at peace with yourself, in relatively good health, and to have or having the prospect of having a special someone or people around you that make you feel loved.

There is a saying that a "mother knows" her children. No matter how many she has with their different personalities and uniqueness, there is a feeling you get when they are still young.

Then as they develop their individual personalities and qualities, you can start to see a possible direction over the course of their lives. That's not to say children can't change course. Many have and may will continue to do so.

The reason I mention children is that the person I nominate as being "successful" would be my oldest daughter. That's not to say the other children were not.

At a young age, I instinctively knew from her personality and outlook on life, she would reach her goals she set. As she matured, I could see it taking shape. Organization is definitely her strongest asset. She had so many spreadsheets and timelines, the entire family would laugh at her.

In high school, she was voted "Most Likely To Succeed." She's always loved computers, so it was no surprise she majored in Computer Science. Six months after college, she landed a software engineering position focusing on quality assurance. She's still on the job after 20 years. She plans to retire early.

She decided to settle herself first before starting a family. Now happily married. her richness can be seen by her tranquil disposition, tender heart, and generous spirit. She took over my former family reunion duties working with the children. She's competitive and she loves sports, especially football and basketball.

If she were the parent, and I the child, I'd like to grow up to be just like her.
