Located just four hours northeast of Melbourne, Bright is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and breathtaking scenery. I took a-day bus trip from the Western Suburb of Melbourne to Bright. It was a bit cloudy; however, it was worth getting up early for the sights.
I came on the trip with other Vietnamese tourists and we departed at 6am. After the first 2-hour driving, the tour guide dropped us at a town called Glenrowan (approximately 2 hours from Melbourne) and told us about one of the most infamous and polarizing figures in Australian history-Ned Kelly.
It was a bit early so museum was yet to open. Walking around the town, I felt Ned Kelly's presence throughout this small town from coffee shop, museum to supermarket with his name and pictures on the wall, and had a glimpse into the life and times of one of Australia's most notorious figures.
Ned Kelly was born in Victoria and his life was marked by crime, violence, and rebellion against authority. He clashed frequently with the police over petty offenses such as theft and assault. However, it wasn't until he became embroiled in a series of more serious crimes that he became infamous throughout the country and ended his life in jail.
Ned's story is one that blurs the lines between heroism and villainy, often depending on one's perspective. To some, he was a symbol of resistance against oppression and injustice; to others, he was nothing more than a common criminal.
After a brief stopover in Glenrowan, our journey continued towards Bright. It was the weekend and tourists were flocking to this charming town.
The driver stopped at some places for us to take pictures before reaching the town. With its vibrant foliage showcasing autumn colors, it was no wonder visitors were eager to experience all that Bright had to offer.
Everyone around me seemed thrilled to capture the beauty of the season through their cameras. But for me, I couldn't help feeling a bit drained from the long karaoke session that my fellow Vietnamese tourists had indulged in during our journey to this picturesque location, π (I'm not a karaoke fan)
As I walked around, I couldn't resist being drawn in by the stunning display of oranges, yellows, and reds. Well, I can imagine how breathtakingly beautiful this town would look when bathed in sunlight.
Arriving the town center, I had 2 hours exploring this charming area before continuing on with my journey. I strolled down the main street, taking in the sights and sounds around me, however, I noticed that many of the shops appeared to be closed.
While wandering through the streets, a local suggested trying the best pies in town at Gumtree Pies. There were crowds of both locals and tourists eagerly waiting to order their savory treats. The pies were pretty good. The flavors were rich and complex and each ingredient tasted fresh and homemade. Highly recommended it π
Very tranquil and beautiful park closes to town. This picturesque destination offers adventure seekers and nature lovers an abundance of opportunities to immerse in nature's beauty and participate outdoor activities. However, my visit to Bright was unfortunately limited, leaving me longing for more exploration and discovery. I will definitely come back next time π
I loved this view. The river running through its center added to its charm and vibrancy. It was once the place for people to search for gold as was most of country Victoria. Some people were fishing and enjoying the water. π€
Like many popular tourist destinations, Bright got quite crowded, especially autumn season. I'm thinking of returning to this beautiful destination as it has so much more to offer π
