Hail to the Hive!
All things come to an end they say and this is the case with us and our seven years in Cebu. But before I left I wanted to have one last jolly in the sky with my friend @iamyohann and his amazing whirly bird, the gyrocopter.
We decided we had done alot of the expected stuff like Pescador Island and Osmena Peak, Sumilon Island etc. We'd also done the not so expected when we flew over the Volcano, Mt Kanlaon, that was such a memorable day. So we thought let's just go explore and I let @iamyohann just enjoy himself and go look at some stuff he, and of course me also, had never really seen. So we headed north to go look for the Solar Power Plant Field north of Toledo.
On the way up the coast we passed the bus stop at Barili. It looked so much different from up here. They have it as a rest stop and viewing station but we got them beat for views today/
You don't really realise how densely they have built the structures here in the fishing villages until you see them from this vantage point.
And then after we had passed the ugly power plant in Toledo we came across the Solar Panels of the First Toledo Solar Energy Sorp. This little baby kicks out 60 mega watts of power which can provide for almost 50000 homes. Not too shabby and it really doesn't look unpleasant from up here.
Almost like a lake.
I don't see this as an eysore by any stretch of the Imagination.
Now we are on the look out for a quarry that @iamyohann had heard about.
We have our eyes peeled but he thinks he has a pretty good idea of its location in the mountains.
It would seem he does. Now there's water collected like a lake in the bottom there but does that look anywhere near as nice as the solar farm? errr nope.
It's like they have emptied an entire mountain of its resources. This is quite striking to behold but an awfully brutal rape of the landscape.
I feel almost like James Bond flying into the evil villains lair.
The scale of this operation is staggering.
Now to change course and head to the other coast to see some of the shipping.
When you see these huge vessels you can't help wondering where they have come from? What they were carrying and for whom? Where will they go next? Truly global wanderers.
Look at them all, so many. What were they carrying?
Ok now to head back to base.
Ahhh there's SImala. Very interesting looking building. Wouldn't look out of place in Lord of the Rings.
Now we are back on the east coast lets look for my house!
There we are. Been there 6 years and only a few weeks left. Beautiful place to live. Many happy memories and incredible views.
Now back to the airfield.
Back Safe n' Sound and on the ground!
Well I have to say nothing beats messing around in the sky with a good friend and views like these. Splendid day. Even the industry in Cebu has a certain beauty and awe to it.
