Hello travelers,
I know two specific people being in love with Thassos Island, located in Greece. That would be me and @bluemoon (he just wrote a post about it and I thought to write one myself, since I have a lot that are in stand by, ready to be shared here with you). If you too are in love with this amazing wonderful island, please please please, leave a comment in the section below! I would love to know! 💙
I was in Thassos two times already, seven days first vacation and ten days the second one. I'm telling you, I'll be back third time because there's still a lot to see and discover!
This time I'll share with you some pictures from Limenaria village, second largest settlement on the island. It's located in west-south the island, near Skala Maries and Potos village, both great locations to visit.
The village of Limenaria is a popular destination on the island for having everything you need near by: restaurants and taverns, coffee shops, farmacy, boat and car renting, food stores, souvenirs, clothing taverns etc. Pretty much the basics you look for when you're in vacation.
We rented one buggy car from this town, also one boat rfor one day. I found great deals and I'm very satisfied by the proffesionalism of Greek people. They're honest (most of them) and when in Thasos, I'm not afraid of being scamed or something. The people on the island are very friendly and "human", ready to help you with everything, if ever in need...
I didnt know this before, but this village is also wpopular for a visible view of the Holy Site of Mount Athos.
The village has a beautiful harbour and offers absolutely gorgeous views of the Aegean Sea.
Also, it has its own sandy beach, but also a number of secluded coves and smaller beaches in the surroundings.
The port from which daily sea cruises are organized is small, but the city center is very lively and offers tourists who are looking for a more active experience. We've taken one of these cruises and I can't wait to share the experience with you in one of my future posts.
We took a walk along the coastline. Here are some photos I took while walking and enjoy this wonderful view.
Food in Limenaria
The food in Thassos is delicious pretty much everywhere. Though we loved the food in Kastro village, to the taverna there. Please don't miss it if you're a food lover. The owner makes everything old style and all tourists can see how much he works to give the tourists the best of him and his services.
We ate here two times.
The food was insanely delicious every time. I'll write a few lines about every photo here. I don't remember the name of the tavern unfortunately.
Shrimp Pasta - my favorite
Fish and Seafood Platter
Delicious Free Dessert
Omg, this was so sooo good. That cake was moist, covered in orange syrup! Only remember the taste, I would go in Thasos right now for this. I liked it a lot. My friends were "Mehhh" so I would eat the whole thing. :d
Greek Lasagna
Sea bream fish with grilled vegetables and apple cider vinegar
According to them, the fish was caught from the fishermen of the area, the night before. I dont know if this is true, but surely the fish was excellent!
Pita bread and Appetizers
Greek Salad
You can't go in Greece without serving at least one of their most popular salad and actually one of the most popular salads in the world. That feta cheese and oregano on top yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumy!
Grilled Octopus
This was my husband's. He always have octopus in Greece, not just one time, but 3-4-5 times. He loves it!
Another salad
Grilled cheese
Greek Pita Bread
Fried Squid
Cappucino
What do you think @bluemoon? I think this would work for you too! 😁
Ohh and we also had some guests to share our food with!
Cats are everywhere in Greece, especially to taverns and restaurants. My kid would feed them so actually they ended up not living until we were gone as well.
View from the tavern
Overall, there's not really that much to see here. In the end, it's a village. But you can find the calmness and relaxing moments you look for when in vacation.
While boating I took these photos over Limenaria. This dark blue water reminds me of Italy.
And last, I'll share some photos of the area with coffee shops, bars, terraces to have a drink and a relaxing time with friends.
So what do you think guys? Would you like visiting and have a walk in here?
I believe that company is all about. Friends and family are the best to be with in Thassos, Greece. We had an awesome time here with our friends. We booked seven nights at first but in the end, we booked another three while we were on the island. Lucky us, we found a beautiful resort with rooms available. We weren't ready to go home so we stayed a few more days!
I hope you can make yourself an idea about this small village, here on the island of Thassos.
Thank you for reading! Have a great weekend everyone!!
