This time I would like to tell you about some of the experiences I had while visiting one of the cities I visited while traveling to Mexico.
I visited Guadalajara in the month of September, very close to the national holidays. The city was decorated for the occasion and the spectacular music of the mariachi could be heard everywhere.
One of the best decisions I made was to look for lodging in the historic center of the city, since I could enjoy the colonial architecture of the city and be close to many tourist attractions such as squares, cathedrals, museums and restaurants.
In fact one of the first trips I took was to visit the beautiful building that was close by, which turned out to be the Metropolitan Cathedral of Guadalajara, which has a very beautiful and pleasant square to take a break and appreciate the beauty of the historic center.
Very close to the cathedral are the Plaza de Armas, the Plaza Guadalajara, the Plaza de Los Fundadores, the Plaza de la Liberación and the Rotonda de los Jaliscenses Ilustres. Sites with characteristic monuments that represent moments of Mexican history.
At the Rotonda take the tapatío tour which makes a tour of the historic center and a visit to the magical town of Tlaquepaque; town full of handicrafts and art galleries. There we visited the Parían de Tlaquepaque, a place that has different restaurants where you can enjoy an excellent food and drinks with a live Mariachi show.
During my stay in the city I took the Tequila Herradura Express, which is a train that takes you to the headquarters of the Herradura tequila distillery located in the town of Amatitán, Jalisco.
The tour is full of incredible views and the experience of riding the train is also very enjoyable. Once at the distillery, there is a guided tour of Casa Herradura to learn about the tequila making process, enjoy cocktails and an open tequila bar, and a delicious buffet with live entertainment.
Guadalajara seemed to me a very beautiful city where the colonial and the modern coexist very well, particularly, very easy to visit and tourist friendly. I would definitely come back.
