Santa Ruins Plateau: The Mysterious History of Gümüşhane

I continue to travel around the Black Sea region of Turkey. After my trips to the Stone Road and Dark Canyon, I came to this magnificent place today. Today, I visited the Santa Ruins Plateau, one of the mysterious beauties of Gümüşhane. This unique historical site is like an open-air museum with its natural beauties and historical structures. Santa Ruins is located in a valley intertwined with the green of the Black Sea in Dumanlı village of Gümüşhane. I had the opportunity to immortalize this mystical atmosphere with the photos I took during my visit.

Santa Ruins is a settlement full of stone structures built around the 17th century. This region, where Greeks lived for centuries, draws attention with its houses, churches and fountains that stand out with their stonework. When I visited, it was possible to feel the past hidden behind every stone and wall while walking among the ruins. It is one of the rare places where history and nature meet so harmoniously.

Another fascinating aspect of Santa Plateau is its breathtaking views. Green plateaus, clean air and silence... The nature surrounding the ruins is a true source of peace. Especially when viewed from the high points of the plateau, the unique beauty of the surrounding mountains and valleys emerges. While taking photos here, it was a great pleasure to look for the ideal angles to capture this beauty of nature.

You can visit the historical houses, churches and arched stone bridges that bear the traces of 7 neighborhoods in Santa Ruins. These structures contain many clues about the past of the region. You can discover the natural riches of the region by taking nature walks around Santa Ruins. A walk with plenty of oxygen awaits you accompanied by the cool plateau air. Every corner is like a postcard for photos. Especially at sunset, the golden lights combined with the historical structures offer unforgettable frames.

Transportation to Santa Ruins Plateau is approximately 80 km from Gümüşhane city center. The journey by car is quite enjoyable accompanied by the natural beauties of the region. However, it is useful to be careful since some parts of the road are stabilized.

This visit gave me the opportunity to experience the enchanting atmosphere of the Santa Ruins Plateau, a natural wonder intertwined with history. As I walked among the stone houses, I felt like I had taken a journey through time. If you like to explore both nature and history together, the Santa Ruins Plateau is a place you should definitely see.
