The autumn started here with dark days, low sun and cold nights. the weather was incredibly bad last week. Since yesterday the sun has been shining again and we feel life has returned back to the earth. It is a nice sunny day today as I don't have any appointments I was free so my husband suggested taking a small trip to Kjærrafossen It is about a 45 minutes drive to drive from our place.
At Kjærra Fossepark, you can enjoy a leisurely walk along the river, listen to the soothing sound of the waterfall, marvel at beautiful bird songs, fish for salmon, and find tranquility. Located in the heart of Lågendalen, it offers a range of nature and culture-based activities and experiences, making it a popular destination. Kjærra Fossepark serves as a green meeting place and arena where business, culture, and nature are nurtured in picturesque surroundings.
On the highway, autumn trees make nature colorful.
Before getting to Kjærrafossen we saw a moose warming himself in the sunshine.
We park our car in the parking lot where the activity center called Høyt og Lavt (high and low) is based before coming to Kjærrafossen. We will come back to it later.
the path is just for walking no private cars are allowed here. People can bike hike and ski in the winter.
The lovely Lågen river flowing smoothly.
Keeping natural surroundings they made nice steps when the river gets flooded the water runs easily in different directions.
Nice crystal clear water but very cold.
the heavy flow of clear water runs through the chute and turns milky white.
This place is very famous for salmon fishing and fish lovers come here from all over the country and northern Europe (the fishing license holders only) The board says per person 3 salmons only. people follow that rule because they want to keep the balance of nature and maintain a thriving fish stock for the future.
All over maple leaves are shining on the ground.
AS you walk along the riverbank you see the river from different angles.
This Japanese ceramic oven is right on the riverbank.
It serves as both a sculpture and a ceramic kiln, and is a natural meeting point for potters and artisans from all over the country. An Anagama oven, which means "cave oven" in Japanese, is featured in this kiln, providing space for approximately 500 figures, depending on their size. Workshops with school pupils can be arranged during kiln firings.
Crossing the walking bridge 700 meters long. we can see both sides of the river, Lågen.
here people can sit and relax and use the picnic benches for lunch.
During the summer season, there are music concerts some evenings.
On the other side, it looks like an aggressive waterfall. it's not a high falls but the river is wide
I met the caretaker Mr. Ole He is a nice friendly man who told me a lot of history about fishing salmon, the traditional way to catch fish how they sell them in season arrangements of music concerts in summer. He opened the gate for me and allowed me in the restricted area to take good photos.
We took a short walk in the forest. Time passes quickly, especially in the autumn with its shorter days. We decided to head back to get to our car because we had food there and were feeling hungry. I'll continue the rest of the story next time.
Thank you.
