Hello adventurous friends, today we begin a new adventure in a Mediterranean forest near the city of Palmela. My goal is to complete a hike of more than 12km starting from some hills in the Sierra de Palmela and ending in the center of Setubal in the Sierra "da Arrabida" this trail is simple, has no major obstacles and anyone can participate! Hola amigos aventureros, hoy comenzamos una nueva aventura en un bosque mediterraneo en los alrededores de la ciudad de Palmela, mi objetivo es completar una caminata de mas de 12km partiendo como punto de inicio unas colinas en la sierra de palmela y terminando en el centro de Setubal en la sierra "da arrabida" este sendero es simple, no tiene obstaculos grandes y puede participar cualquier persona! como recompensa disfrutaremos de los mejores paisajes compartidos entre ambas sierras! quieres mi opinion?? vale la pena...🌻🧭🚩
Organizing my walk🌎🚩 /Organizando mi caminata⛰️🚵🏻♀️
Here I traced the route on Maps so you can see how the walk was between the mountains, initially I am at 280 meters high when I am in the Palmela mountain range, and then I go down the valley towards the winery area to continue the route along the main road and make a detour towards the other hill, here we will climb about 320 meters high and pass through the small village of "casal das figueiras", I always go with boots and hiking poles and here they would help you because if it is raining the sand is very slippery! Bring water and snacks because there is no place to buy them.⛰️🌎
Aqui trace la ruta en Maps para que veas como fue la caminata entre las montanas, incialmente estoy a 280 metros de altura cuando estoy en la sierra de Palmela, y luego bajo por el valle hacia la zona de los vineros para continuar la ruta por la carretera principal y hacer un desvio hacia la otra colina, aqui subiremos unos 320 metros de altura y pasaremos por la pequena aldea de "casal das figueiras", siempre voy con botas y bastones de excursion y aqui te ayudarian porque si esta lloviendo la arena es muy resbaladiza! lleva agua y snacks porque no hay un lugar donde comprar.🧭👩🏻🦯

The walk starts when we are skirting the hill, as you can see in the distance, I don't know if you notice there is a castle! That is the famous Palmela castle, if you want you can modify your walk and take a walk around there and return. In total it would be around twenty kilometers, so you have to do it very early. As you can see the paths are narrow among the undergrowth, the landscape at this point is not impressive in summer, this area is very dry so we rarely see flowering plants or many insects! However, when we enter the forest you will notice the great difference in temperature!🧭🌎
La caminata comienza cuando estamos bordeando la colina, como puedes ver a lo lejos no se si aprecias hay un castillo! ese es el famoso castillo de Palmela que si gustas puedes modificar tu caminata y dar un paseo por alli y devolverte en total rondaria los veinte kilometros por eso tienes que hacerlo muy temprano, como puedes ver los caminos son angostos entre la maleza, el paisaje en este punto no es nada impresionante en verano, esta zona es muy seca por eso raramente vamos a ver plantas con flores o muchos insectos! sin embargo cuando entramos en el bosque notaras la gran diferencia hasta de temperatura!🚩🚵🏻♀️
I was investigating as a curious fact these areas have been occupied since the Bronze Age by various civilizations, the last settlement was in 1750, however many of the villages were abandoned due to lack of work.🧭📸
Estuve investigando como dato curioso estas areas son ocupadas desde la era de bronce por varias civilizaciones, el ultimo asentamiento fue en 1750 sin embargo muchas de las aldeas fueron abandonadas por falta de trabajo.📸

Here we make the detour to go inside the forest, which I would say is two kilometers long, where we will find the typical plants and trees of Mediterranean areas, with pine, eucalyptus, and medrono predominating, among others! I saw some olive trees, here I took a short break to protect myself from the sun, which was intense today. After 15 minutes I continued the walk.🌻🚵🏻♀️
Aqui hacemos el desvio para pasar dentro del bosque diria que tiene una extension de dos kilometros, conseguiremos las plantas y arboles tipicos de zonas mediterranicas predominando el pino, el eucalipto, medrono, entre otros! vi algunos arboles de oliva, aqui hice un pequeno descanso para abrigarme del sol que hoy estaba intenso, pasado 15minutos continue la caminata.🧭🌎
So far I have walked approximately 5km and despite the heat and the sun I have enjoyed every moment of the walk. It is not one of the most beautiful trails I have done but it still has a lot of scenery to observe. From here begins a famous trail that runs across Portugal from end to end.🧭📸
hasta ahora camine aproximadamente unos 5km y apesar del calor y el sol e disfrutado cada momento de la caminata, no es de los senderos mas bonitos que hice pero aun tiene mucho paisaje para observar, de aqui parte un famoso sendero que recorrer portugal de punta a punta.📸
We have to be careful in this area because I see many fallen trees, and of course we do not want to have an accident in the middle of the forest. From here the path opens into open terrain and we will enter the road where we will go around the village.🚵🏻♀️🧭
Tenemos que tener cuidado en esta zona porque veo muchos arboles caidos, y claro no queremos sufrir un accidente en medio del bosque, de aqui el camino se abre a terreno abierto y vamos a entrar a la carretera donde bordearemos la aldea.🌻🌷

Now the following last kilometers are to get closer to that mountain in the background that is part of another natural mountain range, that area there is "arrabida" we are not going to climb it but we will walk around it.🚵🏻♀️🌎
Ahora los siguientes ultimos kilometros es acercarnos a esa montana de fondo que forma parte de otra sierra natural, esa zona alli es "arrabida" no la vamos a escalar pero caminaremos a su alrededor🧭🌻.
This is for me the best part of the hike, we leave behind the forest of the Palmela mountain range and see the Arrabida mountains in the distance, it is my first time doing this hike and I am quite excited, this path is also for mountain biking activities, around there are small country houses that are like hotels, they are cheap.🧭🌻
Esta es para mi la mejor parte de la caminata, dejamos atras el bosque de la sierra de Palmela y vemos a la distancia las montanas de la Arrabida, es mi primera vez haciendo esta caminata y estoy bastante emocionado, este camino tambien es para actividad de ciclismo de montana, a los alrededores hay pequenas casas de campo que son como hoteles son baratos.🌷🚩

We arrived at the village of "Casal das Figueiras" and as you can see we can already see traces of civilization. We are going to take the road that will take us directly to the other mountain range! We are almost finishing the trail, there should be about 4km left at most.🌻🏕️
Llegamos a la aldea de "casal das figueiras" y como puedes ver ya vemos rastros de civilizacion, vamos a coger el camino de la carretera que nos llevara directo a la otra sierra! estamos casi terminando el sendero deben faltar unos 4km como maximo.🧭🌷

With these last photos I say goodbye from the village, quite small and from what I see most of the people here are dedicated to agriculture or are holiday homes! The path could be circular, meaning you could still go back through another sector but that would extend everything by another 15km and it was too late for me.🧭📸
