I hope all is well. Today I will try to talk about Rumeli Hisar in Istanbul/Sarıyer.
Before I start, I would like to thank the @pinmapple team endlessly. For about two years, I have added the places I have visited to the maps through pinmapple and my posts have been appreciated many times. I was really sad to see such a great project come to an end. Maybe this is what should have happened. I would like to thank the whole team again. I plan to add some of the places I have traveled to the map by the end of this month.

Umarım her şey yolundadır. Bugün İstanbul/Sarıyer'de bulunan Rumeli Hisarına değinmeye çalışacağım.
Cümlelere başlamadan önce @pinmapple ekibine sonsuz teşekkür etmek istiyorum. Yaklaşık iki yıldır gezdiğim yerleri pinmapple vasıtasıyla haritalara ekledim ve gönderilerim birçok kez takdir edildi. Böyle harika bir projenin sona ermesi beni gerçekten üzdü. Belki de olması gereken buydu. Bütün ekibe tekrardan teşekkür ediyorum. Bu ay sonuna kadar gezdiğim yerlerden bir kısmını haritaya eklemeyi düşünüyorum.
In the last few weeks, I went for a walk to Sarıyer, towards the beach. The beach was really beautiful. Especially the view of the bridge was incredible. I had the opportunity to visit different spots along the coast. One of them is Rumeli Fortress. The fort is right on the edge of the beach. So I didn't make any extra effort to get to the Hisar.
Geçen haftalarda Sarıyer tarafına, sahile doğru gezmeye gittim. Sahil gerçekten çok güzeldi. Özellikle köprü manzarası inanılmazdı. Sahil boyunca farklı noktaları ziyaret etme imkanım oldu. Onlardan birisi de Rumeli Hisarı. Hisar hemen sahilin kenarında bulunuyor. Dolayısıyla Hisarın olduğu yere ulaşmak için ekstra bir çaba sarf etmedim.
Since I had a museum card, I went inside for free. However, when I learned that a large part of the Citadel was under renovation and only certain parts were open to visitors, I was quite upset. I wanted to go to the top of the walls and see the magnificent Bosphorus view, but I didn't have the chance.
Müze kartım olduğu için içeriye ücretsiz olarak girdim. Ancak Hisarın büyük bir bölümünün tadilatta olduğunu, sadece belli başlı yerlerin ziyarete açık olduğunu öğrendiğimde açıkçası bayağı üzüldüm. Surların tepesine çıkıp muhteşem boğaz manzarasını çok görmek istiyordum, nasip olmadı.
Probably because it was undergoing restoration work, there were not many visitors. I went inside and visited the places open to visitors. The interior was quite beautiful. Especially with the arrival of spring, the greenery surrounded the interior. As I went upwards, the view became even more beautiful. There were many mausoleums inside. I tried to take as many photos as possible from different angles.
Muhtemelen restorasyon çalışması olduğu için çok fazla ziyaretçi akını yoktu. İçeriye girip ziyarete açık yerleri gezdim. İç kısımda oldukça güzeldi. Özellikle baharın gelişiyle birlikte yeşillikler iç kısmı sarmıştı. Yukarı doğru çıktıkça manzara daha da güzel bir hâl alıyordu. İçerde birçok anıt mezar bulunuyordu. Farklı açılardan olabildiğince fotoğraf çekmeye çalıştım.
I had read in history books that this fortress was built to control the ships passing through the strait. Considering the opportunities in the past, it is not difficult to understand that it was built under difficult conditions and great efforts were made. Therefore, I commemorate all those who worked and labor here with great respect.
Bu hisarın boğazdan geçen gemileri kontrol amaçlı yapıldığını tarih kitaplarında okumuştum. Geçmişteki imkanları göz önünde bulundurursak zor şartlar altında yapıldığını, büyük emekler verildiğini anlamak hiçte zor değil. Dolayısıyla burada çalışan, emek veren herkesi büyük bir saygıyla yâd ediyorum.
I visited the inner part of the Citadel in about half an hour. I got very tired going up. After resting for about five minutes, I said goodbye to the Citadel. The part with the walls and the summit of the castle stayed with me. 😅 I asked the security guard right at the exit how long the restoration work would take. He said it would continue for about two years. Two years is a really long time. I recommend those who will visit to take this into consideration.
Hisarın iç kısmını yaklaşık yarım saatte gezdim. Yukarı kısma çıkarken bayağı yoruldum. Beş dakika kadar dinlendikten sonra Hisara veda ettim. Surların olduğu kısım ve kalenin zirvesi içimde kaldı. 😅 Çıkışın hemen oradaki güvenlik görevlisine; restorasyon çalışmalarının ne kadar süreceğini sordum. Yaklaşık iki yıl boyunca devam edeceğini söyledi. İki yıl gerçekten uzun bir süre. Ziyarete gelecek olanların bu durumu göz önünde bulundurmalarını tavsiye ederim.
After leaving the Citadel, I continued walking along the coast and visited the nearby Asiyan museum. I plan to share this place in the next post. Thank you for reading. See you soon.
