Munnar is a popular tourist destination here in India and why is that? To describe Munnar you have to imagine hills and hills full of tea plantations that are perfectly trimmed which in turn makes us feel as if the hills are wearing a green dress. It's just pure greenery.

About my trip

Well, I and my family had already planned to go to my grandparent's home to the village of Kanthalloor located almost 50km (31 miles) from Munnar. We started our journey at about 10 am and reached Munnar by 12 pm. The thing was that we were not expecting anything new on the road as we had traveled through this road many a time.

Jacaranda Trees

After about 10 mins into the drive on reaching Munnar, we started seeing these beautiful purple trees and at first, I thought it was the leaves that gave these trees their purple color but I was not sure so we decided to stop and have a closer look.

I didn't know the name of this tree at first but after some research, I am confident that this is a Jacaranda tree. This tree blooms in summer and it's mid Summer here.

If you guys were wondering why those tea plants are brown it's because they got trimmed so that new leaves could sprout and we could use them to make tea powder.

My experience

Firstly, I have to say that I got really surprised to see them bloom like this as I have never seen these trees bloom even though I had traveled through these roads before. It was really refreshing to see such vibrant colors being put on display by mother nature. If you guys ever visit Kerala then I really advise you guys to come to see Munnar and its beauty by yourself.
