Tenerife, Spain, has a very special place: Jardines del Marquesado de la Quinta Roja. It is a very photogenic garden located on continuous terraces, overlooking the sea and the rest of the city. On this visit to the north of Tenerife, instead of passing through Puerto de La Cruz, we moved a little further south and away from the coast to go to La Orotava, a very picturesque place where this very particular garden is located.
Tenerife posee un sitio muy especial: Jardines del Marquesado de la Quinta Roja. Se trata de unos jardines muy fotogénicos ubicados en unas terrazas continuas, con vista al mar y al resto de la ciudad. Esta visita al norte de Tenerife, en lugar de transitar por el Puerto de La Cruz, nos trasladamos un poco más al sur y alejados de la costa para ir a La Orotava, un sitio muy pintoresco en donde se encuentra este jardín muy particular.
This garden apparently has a couple of entrances. One of them is located after a steep street. It is not very obvious to get through this entrance as there is no clear indication, but if you use Google Maps you may notice it. The other entrance has a connection to a street. Since I entered through the first entrance, I could appreciate some views offered by a small bridge that leads to the garden.

No es muy evidente llegar a través de esta entrada ya que no hay una señalización clara, pero si utilizas el Google Maps puedes llegar a notarla. La otra entrada posee conexión hacia una calle. Ya que entré por la primera entrada, pude apreciar algunas vistas que ofrece un pequeño puente que da paso al jardín.
I have visited this place out of curiosity, and it is really picturesque and worth taking many pictures. The gardens that this place has are located on 7 terraces distributed throughout the area. However, as soon as you enter the place, one of the first things you will notice is the presence of a Mausoleum at the top, in the middle of the upper terraces. A visit to the top will take you to a site with a beautiful view of all the lower gardens, and also of the sea and the buildings of La Orotava. On the horizon, you can also see a chapel or church. The views are very beautiful and deserve a lot of captures from your phone camera.
He visitado este lugar por curiosidad, y es realmente pintoresco y digno de tomar muchas fotos. Los jardines que posee este lugar se encuentran en 7 terrazas distribuidas por el área. Sin embargo, a penas entras al lugar, una de las primeras cosas que vas a notar es la presencia de un Mausoleo en la cima, en medio de las terrazas superiores. Una visita a la cima, te llevará a un sitio con una hermosa vista de todos los jardines inferiores, y también del mar y los edificios de La Orotava. En el horizonte se puede observar también una capilla o iglesia. Las vistas son muy hermosas y merecen un montón de capturas de la cámara de tu teléfono.

You may not know much or anything about this site before arriving, but you may be surprised to learn that this structure corresponds to a Masonic mausoleum dedicated to Diego Ponte del Castillo, Marquis of the Quinta Roja, possibly the red building next to the garden. This personage was a Mason, and this mausoleum would serve for his burial after his death, although, according to information, his burial was finally accepted in a Christian cemetery.

Es posible que no sepas mucho o nada acerca de este sitio antes de llegar, pero quizás te sorprenda saber que dicha estructura corresponde a un mausoleo masónico dedicado a Diego Ponte del Castillo, marqués de la quinta roja, posiblemente el edificio rojo que se encuentra al lado del jardín. Este personaje fue masón, y dicho mausoleo serviría para su entierro después de su muerte, aunque, según las informaciones, finalmente fue aceptado su entierro en un cementerio cristiano.

As soon as I heard about it, I could not help but notice the symbols that this mausoleum has, which are very curious, and also made me think about the fact that there were just 7 terraces of gardens, who knows if the place was designed according to symbology and numerology. The upper terrace also contains spaces where you can sit and appreciate the views offered by the place. I came to find a beautiful kitten there, which may be a mason and is in charge of guarding the place. The place was full of tourists from other parts of Europe and the world, apparently, it attracts the attention of many people who come to visit the island of Tenerife. This was the only time I visited La Orotava, but I would like to go again to see more tourist sites in the area.
La terraza superior también contiene espacios en donde puedes sentarte y apreciar las vistas que ofrece el lugar. Llegué a encontrar a un hermoso gatito allí, el cuál quizás sea masón y se encarga de vigilar el lugar. El lugar estaba repleto de turistas de otras partes de Europa y el mundo, al parecer atrae la atención de muchas personas que vienen a visitar la Isla de Tenerife. Esta fue la única ocasión en la que visité La Orotava, pero me gustaría ir de nuevo para conocer más sitios turísticos de la zona.
At the bottom, in one of the corridors of the garden, you can find a very curious monument. It is a single door. Knowing that the place has Masonic origins, it is not surprising that we can also find this monument so strange, but at the same time interesting. Surely it will have some meaning according to the knowledge of Freemasonry. As can be seen in the photos, the flowers in the garden are not the only interesting thing to see here. In fact, it is a garden that in the end seems to be more than a garden, since it shows very curious and interesting things.
En la parte inferior, en uno de los corredores del jardín, puedes encontrar un monumento muy curioso. Se trata de una puerta sola. Sabiendo que el lugar tiene origen masónico, no es de sorpresa que podamos encontrar también este monumento tan extraño, pero a la vez interesante. Seguramente tendrá algún significado según el conocimiento de la masonería. Como puede observarse en las fotos, las flores del jardín no son la unico interesante a ver aquí. De hecho, es un jardín que a la final parece ser más que un jardín, ya que muestra cosas muy curiosas e interesantes.

The view towards the sea was almost completely clear of clouds, which I think was ideal for taking pictures. Very close to this place, there is a botanical garden and other sites of historical and architectural interest that I would like to visit soon.
Ese día el clima estaba bastante agradable, un poco soleado y con nubes en el horizonte posadas sobre el Teide, lo cual le daba cierto toque de frescura. En pleno verano este sitio podría ser bastante caliente. Sin embargo, las nubes en el horizonte encajaban perfectamente con lo misterioso y curioso del lugar ya que se encontraban en dirección al mausoleo visto desde la parte inferior. La vista hacia el mar se encontraba casi completamente despejada de nubes, lo cual creo que era lo ideal para tomar fotos. Muy cerca de este lugar, se encuentra un jardín botánico y otros sitios de interés histórico y arquitectónico que me gustaría visita pronto.
