"Excuse me, how do I get Into this building?"
"There's two ways," replied the shop assistant. "You can walk around the building and use the side door."
"The other way?" I asked.
"You can access though this shop."
"May I?" I asked politely.
"Yes, if you buy some flowers "
"I need to be there, where I need to go, in a few minutes. Let me buy some when I finish."
"Is that a promise?" asked the shop assistant.
"Yes, I promise."
"You look like the kind of man who keeps his promises."
"I promise," I replied again.
"You don't need to promise."
"I promise."
"Actually," said the man. "I don't need you to promise. There's no conditions. Just get yourself to where you need to go."
"Thank you," I said. "That's very nice of you."
"It's also very nice to buy your wife some flowers. Did you promise her that you would buy her flowers today?"
I didn't reply. My tongue was tied.
"It's a nice thing to do. Buy your wife some flowers. It's the key to a happy life."
"Let me go to where I need to go. Otherwise, I'll be late. I'll come back and buy flowers. For my wife, even though, I didn't promise her."
"I may see you soon then."
"I will see you soon," I replied.
"You may."
"I will."
After an hour and a half, I finished at the place where I needed to go. It was time to go home. Of course, I need to make a stop to the flower shop before I make my way home.
"Gone for lunch, I'll be back in 30 minutes."
That's what the sign said at the door.
"What to do?" I think to myself.
My phone rings. It's my wife.
"Do you prefer chocolate or flowers," I asked.
"You can't eat flowers," she replied.
Thankfully, next door to the flower shop, is a very classy chocolate shop.
"Can I try a sample?" I asked.
"Certainly," replied the shop assistant.
Yes, I think this is going to be a good night.
