Lately, I've seen a lot of Isekais that I can't count. This includes the ones that are still airing and the ones that have already aired. Though every story is almost pretty much the same for me, but it's still pretty cool.
Among all of the Isekais I've watched, most involve the main character going to another world for the sake of defeating the dark lord or demon lord. These stories have different ways of doing their own thing (like summoning or MMORPG-like games) with the notion of not being able to go back. But this one is a little bit different from the rest, which makes me want to introduce the anime "Isekai de Cheat Skill wo Te ni Shita Ore wa, Genjitsu Sekai wo mo Musou Suru: Level Up wa Jinsei wo Kaeta." Pretty long, right? In English, it's called "I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too," but I basically call it Cheat Skill because of the long title.
I've been interested in this anime since last year when I saw a review on YouTube criticizing the movie, and I'm pretty fascinated by it. Back then, I only watched Moshoku Tensei (which was my first Isekai anime) and was fascinated by it. So I thought, if that could be interesting, this can also be, but later I forgot about it due to other activities and movies. So recently, I remembered the movie again, and I was really eager to watch it.
Cheat Skill is a story of a young boy named Yuuya Tenjou, who was constantly bullied in school for being overweight, short, and meek. The level of humiliation reached the point that his family resented him. They sent him away, making him stay in his grandfather's house. He was only happy because his grandfather was alive. However, when his grandfather died, he became very unhappy and sad. One day, while in his grandfather's house, he discovers a portal that leads to another world, which enables him to gain powers that transform his life.
Honestly, all the plot I explained above is in the first episode, which was pretty interesting in how it was done. The first episode sets the stage for the entire 13-episode anime. The way they made the narrative short, simple, and concise makes me like it, and I was engrossed with it from the start.
As we all know, the plot is pretty much Isekai-ish, in the normal, generic Isekai way, where there is an overpowered main character surrounded by girls, which is pretty much the same for almost all Isekai anime. But remember, I said that this anime is kind of different. The fact that the main character was not only able to come back to the original world but can also use the skill in the original world is cool to me and is pretty much different considering the Isekais I've watched so far.
According to the environment, the anime exhibits two settings, which are the school and the other world. At first, it was pretty interesting since the main character can use his skills in the main world, but at some point in the series, the anime really focused on the normal world rather than the Isekai. This was pretty acceptable considering everything was said in the title of the anime, but this made it really boring to watch. Considering the excitement of the first eight episodes, I really expected much more from the latter episodes, but it was not as expected.
Considering the art, the drawing was particularly detailed, and the eyes were really highlighted pretty well, which means that it was beautifully drawn and the animation is amazing. I like it.
Towards the end of the series, it became more interesting again, and as a result of that, I really wanted a second season at least because there are still some parts in the anime that I expected it to touch that it still hasn't.
In conclusion, the plot is pretty much generic. In fact, I'm tired of Isekai anime at the moment, but everything portrays what was talked about in the title. The action, school, and events made the whole anime interesting. With this in mind, I give it a 6/10.
CHEAT SKILL TRAILER
SHOULD I WATCH IT ??
Well, I can say that it's pretty much okay. If you're someone who loves Isekai and isn't tired of characters going to the other world without coming back, or you're the type that loves overpowered main characters, this is your go-to, and I'm sure you'll love it. But if you're someone who isn't interested in Isekai and is tired of overpowered main characters, I'd advise not to.
If you're new to anime, you can also watch it. It's interesting to get settled with it. But if you're interested in Isekai and you've not watched one before, I'd advise watching Moshoku Tensei or Reincarnated as a Slime first before watching this so as to get a good first impression of Isekai (Just kidding 😅😅😅).
In a nutshell, If you really want to and are curious about it, you can. You'll definitely enjoy it.
MY NEXT GO TO
Practically I don't know at the moment, I really just wanted to finish the remaining Isekai that's with me, this includes "drifters" recommended by @tegoshei and the current Isekai that is still airing, like "Moshoku Tensei" and "Reincarnated as a slime", but, I think I'll try sci-fi anime maybe kaijuu or something. It looks cool. By the way my friends @tegoshei , @ibet and every other person, I need your help for recommendations. Anybody can recommend some anime for me, I'll be happy to hear your comment.
That brings me to the end of my post, I hope you enjoyed it, see you next time. Bye 👋 .
