Greetings to the art community!
I am here again to present a new artwork of mine. It is about cultural dancers from the three largest ethnic groups in Nigeria. For those that are not aware, Nigeria consists of over 25o ethnic groups but the 3 largest and most recognized among them are the Yorubas in the SouthWestern zone, the Hausas in the North, and the Igbos in the East.
About the artwork
The 3 people in the artwork consist of a Hausa man playing his flute, a Yoruba man playing the 'bata' drum, popularly known as the talking drum, and an Igbo man dancing to the tune being played by the two. It is a form of a reunion party for the 3 tribes.
How the artwork was created
- A sketch of the concept was made on a 3+ ft by 2 ft cardboard.
- The outline of the sketch was traced using black wool.
- The remaining colors were fixed using the appropriate wool colors.
- Framing of the entire artwork was carried out.
