A real Definition of Rural in 21 Century

My entry to #wedensdaywalk by @tattoodjay is to a place called Matogun somewhere in Ogun State Nigeria. It is a rural community with no stable electricity. The land is good enough for personal bore hole drilling as there is no availability of Government water is available for them. And, for those who cannot afford borehole drilling will either buy from a nearby seller or rely on their neighbors. Clean water is essential and it should be supplied by the Government at a subsidized monthly payment. It is one thing that speeds the growth of some rural areas.

Electricity is one other thing they suffer in this community. It is either one gets personal generator or uses a solar/Inverter system to enjoy stable electricity. The Electricity Company has placed them on a Band D. Band D are set of communities that can only have maximum electricity supply of eight hours. I can assure you that even that eight hours is not always available for their use. Another saddening thing is that there is loadshedding. This means that they are only entitled to two days electricity and the third day will be an off. This is another set back for this community.

Road Network is another thing that is lacking. In a town of over 500,000 occupants and more that 700 road links there is no one tarred road network. This is concerning and it shows they are still far way back in the 1970s. It is unfortunate that the Government effect is not in any way impactful in this residence.
