I Am Alive - Post #170

Hi all!💚

It's another day for me of sitting at my PC and continuing my courses I talked about yesterday. Actually my day is almost the same as yesterday. But I did make progress!
Yesterday I stopped at 14% and now I am at 21% of my course.

This is a 4 week course and I'm just 3 days into it. I am quite proud of myself.

I also have to turn in a literature review of an article today. I don't have a deadline for it and that's the most dangerous thing of all: when you don't have a deadline, you just keep pushing the submission. But I promised myself that it really has to be finished today. So today & tonight I won't sleep until I've sent my review by mail.

Today I want to share a bit about the Indian youtube podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia who has completely changed my life over the past few months.
I want to take a day anyway to write more about this podcaster and his youtube channels, but today I want to share an important thing I learned from his podcasts namely focus.

I have always been someone who loves to multitask. I often can't even just sit down to eat. When I eat, the television has to be on and I have to be watching a funny movie and often I am busy on my cell phone separately. That's how I've always done most things in my life: I'm always doing multiple things at once. And usually I do everything I do well, but I honestly don't know if that's effective.

Don't you finish a task faster if you focus only on it?
According to many guests of Ranveer Allahbadia, yes. Also according to the famous Jay Shetty, it is.

So I decided to test myself out and instead of multitasking I tried to just focus on one thing on one moment. And oh jeez! That's pretty hard!
My mind keeps wandering and I'm eager to while I'm writing this, for example, also listen to another youtube podcast or put on music or do anything else.
This also makes meditating very difficult. When I sit down to meditate, a thousand thoughts fly through my head!

But I am still training myself to be focused on one thing in one moment. And little by little I indeed notice that I am getting better results: especially when it comes to my studies.

Many people have difficulty with multitasking, at least in my immediate environment. They always ask me how I do it.
And well, I have difficulty with the opposite.

Does anyone have more tips for me on how to keep my focus on one thing?
Of course I got a lot of tips from books & podcasts, but maybe I can take your tips as well?
