There's a major issue of rising income inequality in the world. This brings up a question "Should workers earn equal pay?"
Should Workers Earn Equal Pay?
Personally, this is a big fat NO for me. I feel the world would be in chaos if this was to happen. At first glance, there may be people that think this is fair but this is not fair at all. Having the same pay doesn't take into consideration the experience and skills that differ from person to person. There's no reason someone with more experience provided they are pulling their weight should be paid the same as someone new to the job. In my eyes, this would be unfair.
In addition to that, different jobs have different requirements and skills needed. For example, if someone that didn't study at all and worked as a waiter at restaurant could earn the same as someone that studied around 15 years to be a neurosurgeon, we probably most likely wouldn't have that many people in the medical industry and that would be a mess as we need people working those jobs to save lives.
Power To Change the System and Make Everybody Happy?
What would I do if I had the power to change the system and make everybody happy. Firstly, I want to say that it's impossible to please everybody. What may seem fair to me may seem unfair for another party. I don't believe there's a perfect system and that's mainly because us humans aren't perfect ourselves.
One of the measures I would take though would be to make sure there was public education available to all until high school no matter where they lived even in the countryside. There's some countries that don't have this basic education. Having education is important as it's key to personal growth and value. As they say knowledge is power. On top of that, there's a clear correlation of higher pay with higher education excluding the outliers. With this measure, I would also try to see if teachers could be paid appropriately as teachers are usually underpaid for what they do in my opinion and what they do is really key to the future of the world.
The second measure I would take is to create an organization that is sponsored by the government which would aim to help provide jobs or teach the skills for people that don't have jobs to start working. I've seen a lot of homeless people and this would at least provide them a last chance to change their life.
The third measure I would take would be to increase & maintain the minimum wage according to the average living standards to make sure that everyone could have a basic standard of living. I would try to make it in a fair way that wouldn't just make costs of services and goods rise that would make an endless cycle of increasing the wages and cost of goods and services. Ideally, the aim of this would be to ensure any working person had enough for basic necessities such as food, water, shelter etc and some extra for savings or entertainment
Just dropping this here for the thumbnail, I had KBBQ yesterday. Everyone needs to eat
Conclusion
Actually, I feel like I could go on forever but I will stick with these three. you can see the measures I took weren't too drastic. Our current system actually doesn't have as many issues as we might think. I feel it's actually the people that are the problem. We are getting distracted or just straight being lazy. For example, you can see that the younger generation is losing their attention span. We moved from 10-20 minute videos to these short 10-30 second Youtube Shorts / Tiktok videos.
I made sure the measures I took gave a chance for those that are born poor to get out and be someone well off. I believe everyone has the potential to be well off. We have all the information out there now with the internet. There are many things and skills to learn that could be used to earn money. Take writing on Hive on as example. There are many people in third world countries where they could actually work on Hive full time and sustain their living expenses.
This all leads up to the title! It's your life. Take charge of it. If you're not making enough money go work more and find some side hustles. Keep on improving yourself and building your value. This way you will get paid more and more for your skills and knowledge. If you don't want to go that route, you can always be your own boss and start your own business. The possibilities are endless but it's all up to ourselves to get to the life we want. The system doesn't make us fail. We only fail when we give up!
