Life is full of weird things, as much as we like to control every aspect of that, it still manages to flip us on our backs. It is full of surprises. The same goes for us, intelligent mammals.

We think we know someone well only to realise not anymore. And what's more puzzling is when we surprise ourselves. I do believe that you got surprised by your own self at least a few times.
Many times you question yourself why did I do that particular thing, what was I thinking? Did someone make me do that? Was that an alien or some parasite controlling my mind? 😂 Noooo! That was just us doing weird, unexplainable things. 🙃
One such incident is when I tried to hide from everyone.
It was the good old days, I must be 10 or something but I still remember that day clearly. It was the day of our annual fair that happens every year inside a Temple premises just after a big festival in India. It is fun, especially for children as they get to buy new toys, eat tasty sweets and snacks and get to enjoy the day at the fair with their friends almost all day long. And we had some guests as well in our home.
When we got back to our house from the fair, someone said that aunt haven't come yet from the fair. And I replied I am going to look for them. At first, my mother thought I am just saying that and no way... I will go. But I had some other plans.
This is when something evil cooked up in my mind. I decided to Hide behind a curtain for no apparent reason. I had no reason to do that. I was not playing any game, nor I was hallucinating or something. I made up my mind and hid behind the curtain. I was standing in front of the big, open almirah (curtain for a door) covered behind the curtain. Almost completely hidden with just the toes slightly visible.
I stood there for hours and everyone now was looking for me in the neighbourhood, temple complex, in the streets and at friends' houses. But I was still standing behind that curtain, occasionally listening to the conversations going on in the house. I noticed the situation became tense and soon everyone was finding me in every place they could while I was standing there still, without making noise and noticing everything.

What was my Plan? Glad you asked. Because I had none. I just kept standing there. It was now nighttime and I am still there with a cunning smile on my face. Finally, my mom saw my feet and the commotion ended there. 😅
Everyone was surprised and relieved at the same time. My mom scolded me too and asked many questions but I had no answer to them. Not even to this date. Why did I do that? What happened to me on that day? I can assure you that it was not just a child's nuisance. Whatever that was we still laugh at that incident to date. 🤣
