Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. Borders are always closed and can only be accessed if one meets the requirements or criteria to do so. There are so many reasons why restrictions are placed at the borders of every country, and the security at the borders is always tight.
I have never pictured a world where borders are wide open with no restrictions and anybody can come in carrying whatever they want without any inspections, no security checks, just freedom to do anything. Only this imagination made me realize that if borders are opened with no restrictions, then we are in trouble and the entire world is doomed.
An open border comes with both pros and cons; the cons might outweigh the pros, but it's still beneficial in a way.
- Immigration Made Easy: We all know how difficult it is for one to migrate from one country to another because of border patrols and security agencies, but if the borders are left wide open without the border patrol team there to stop immigrants, then there will be a high record of people migrating from one country to another.
Business made easy: Those involved in imports and exports pay heavily at the border for their goods to be allowed into the country, but if the gates are left open, they won't have to pay, and they can go about their business easily.
**Goods are made available: ** Goods that are not at a country's disposal are easily made available for the citizens as the borders are wide open and the goods can be imported without needing to go through so much stress.
The cost of goods: many traders sell certain commodities at a high price because they were imported. If the borders are open and no tax is paid for imported goods, then they won't be sold at such a high price.
It has some disadvantages, and they include:
Importation of Illegal Goods: As the borders are wide open, some people might want to use them to their own advantage at the detriment of others, and goods like ammunition and drugs will be introduced into the country.
Insecurity: Since the borders are wide open, anyone can enter the country, even people who have bad intentions for the country. Maybe their aim is to wreck havoc; since the borders are open, they can access the country without even being noticed.
Fleeing from facing the law: Any defaulter who is supposed to face the consequences of committing a crime can easily flee from one country to another in order not to face their sentence.
In a nutshell, no doubt open borders are good, but they come with a price to pay. If borders are open, then the world economy might experience a different turn of events as everything will blossom, but the consequences of doing so might be grievous and the price to pay might be big and drag the world economy down. Either ways open borders have a great effect on the world economy.
