I’ve had situations where things came up out of the blue and I had to handle them which meant I needed money and when I say money, I mean a lot of it! And I’m sure most people have also found themselves in situations like this. Personally, I don’t like being in debt. I just don’t feel okay with the feeling of me owing someone and having to pay up as soon as possible with every passing minute. It just feels like that much of a burden to me.
I’ve had people tell me to go in for a quickloan which is a form of mobile loaning thing we have here in Ghana when they ask me for money and I don’t have that much to give them. For most of them, it’s cool because they go in for quickloan all the time while I on the other hand have never done that before. And to even think that someone will ask me to go in for a loan to give them is crazy, fr. Like why don’t you rather go in for the loan since you’re the one that needs it. I don’t think I’d be that stupid to do that for someone who is most likely going to be an ungrateful person in the long run .
Even though I’m not a fan of loans, I remember this one time I had to go in for a loan. I wouldn’t really call it a loan as it was from a friend. I had to pay for something urgently and I didn’t really have money in that moment cos I had overspent that week. I didn’t know what to do but I remembered I have a rich friend so I called them and asked for some money which they gave and even said I should feel free to pay whenever I wanted. It felt good to have someone come through for me this way but it didn’t feel good to be in debt.
It wasn’t really a lot of money but I still felt the burden on my shoulders. I was able to do what I needed to be done with the money which meant one of my problems solved. Now, I had to find a way to pay back the money I owed which meant I had to make money ASAP. God being so good, I was able to work so hard to make enough money to finally be able to pay my friend back and it was only then I felt okay since I didn’t have to go everyday remembering that I owed someone somewhere. The good part of this was that, there was no interest attached made it a lot easier for me.
I don’t mind giving out a loan to people, especially my friends but me going in for a loan from others is just too tough for me. Regardless, life doesn’t always go as planned which is why we always need to try as much as possible to prepare for situations like this.
