Nowadays, news channels and the news they broadcast profoundly influence us. We watch news channels daily and believe the news they present as the truth. This news has a deep impact on our personality.
The problem arises when we share this news with others and relatives without verifying it. What then happens is that this news spreads like wildfire, creating a state of emergency.
This is our greatest tragedy. There was a time when the news on television was considered true, and even the people working in news channels were honest. Back then, there was no race for TRP (Television Rating Point). But nowadays, everything is done to increase TRP. Fake news and incidents are being fabricated to manipulate the public, and the news is presented in such a way that even an ordinary person gets emotionally charged.
I can confidently say that 99% of the news we receive from these channels nowadays is fake, created solely to boost the channel's ratings. I've even watched a couple of shows on this topic. Alternatively, I can also say that the news might be true, but the way it is presented has become so manipulative that the listener ends up believing it, even if they don't want to.
Seeing all this, I try my best to avoid watching these news channels, and that's exactly what I've done—I have stopped watching them. Even if I do watch these channels occasionally and come across some news, I don't believe it until I have verified it.
Now, people might ask how to verify the news. My approach is to confirm it with friends who live in the city the news is about. I ask them if such news was circulating about their city and whether the incident happened there.
Just a few days ago, there was news about a city claiming that a fight had broken out, causing a lot of chaos, and some people had even been killed. I didn’t believe this news until I called someone I know from that city to verify it. Verification is important.
