Traveling they say; "Is part of experience" and each traveling experience leaves us with a memory whether a postive one or the otherwise. The last time i traveled was in July 2024 when i was opportuned to attend my very first annual national conference of we Community Pharmacist in Nigeria which held in Ibadan, Oyo State of Nigeria which is a border with my state of residence/practice. This journey is a long awaited one haven heared of fascinating stories of such a conference from past attendees and it been held closeby (compared to traveling down to other part of the country) seems like an advantage.
Traveling is part of my hobbies and i really always look forward to such. The journey began with a smooth ride with our association bus and i enjoyed the gists with my colleagues who we are on board together in the bus. In addition, the refreshments i took while going also made it lively for me even as i viewed beautiful scenes along the road while traveling. It took us about an hour and a half to reach our destination and while we got there, the hotel accommodation we were lodged was top-notch and close to the conference venue which is the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
It's been over a year ago i traveled last to the city but i noticed alot of infrastructural development within the city and remodelling of old existing structures e.g. the Agbowo complex remodelling/upgrade. The serenity and ambience of where i stayed was a good one and i enjoyed my stay over there. One remarkable moment for me in my last travel was that of a visit to an ultramodern resort centre in the same city which has a mini zoo, chapel, sporting facility, lodging accomodation and all. Visiting such place makes my journey an enjoyable and relaxing one. In addition, we visited a mini stadium where i participated in a 5 aside football competition, i love how they managed and run such facility. Partaking of the local meals in the gala and traditional nights celebration stood out for me.
One thing i think should be looked into is that of the reckless driving by the commercial transporters called "Micra drivers". These do cause unnecessary gridlock and hold ups as a result of traffic congestion due to lack of patience by these drivers. Also, the neatness and tidines of some major area of the city especially the market/commercial area needs to be look into. One positive experience of my last journey was the privilege to see again my old school colleagues whom we graduated together after some years of departure from the University.
My last trip was a fun-filled and a remarkable one even as i enjoyed my stay in this city. I was able to connect with new friends/colleagues and to sight-see the premier university in Nigeria. I look forward to more trips like this especially trips to this anciet city in the Southwest of Nigeria. Also, i look forward to attending the next conference next year exploring the other states of the federation as traveling is part of experience.
