Kayode

Kayode sat down still as he tried to go through everything that had happened in the past few days in his head. Everything had happened so fast that he never really took a moment to stop and think about it all. Well, with the look of things, he had all the time in the world to do that now.

Kayode was an internet fraudster who was looking for an easy way to get rich quick. His clients weren’t paying enough and it was probably because he wasn’t doing anything diabolical like his colleagues in the same line of hustle does. The idea of eating human faeces just didn’t appeal to him as that was one of the many requirements if one do decide to go to the other side.

Well, Kayode’s frustration had led him to a bar one evening and he made a new friend. He must had gotten drunk and started blabbering to anyone who was willing to listen when his new friend Mike, told him about a new whistleblower program that was being organized by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission also known as EFCC for short.

Mike told Kayode that he could make as much as five hundred thousand naira by just leading the EFFC to one internet fraudster.

If Kayode was drunk before, the amount he just heard immediately made him sober. It didn’t take long before Kayode decided to rat on one of his guys whose name was Solomon. Solomon was also an internet fraudster and had turned Kayode away when he came to ask him for money.

Mike had given him his phone number so that they could speak over the phone while they plan on how to contact the EFCC and give them Solomon’s location with enough evidence to make sure he doesn’t escape and they got paid.

Three days later and Solomon was in custody wondering how he got arrested. He didn’t even know he was on the EFCC’s radar and that was when Detective Mike walked into the interrogation room where Solomon was seated. Mike immediately told Solomon how they got information about him from Kayode which eventually led to his arrest. Of course he left out the part where he lied to Kayode about a reward program, he simply was saying all of that to make Solomon angry, angry enough to willingly tell them anything they could use to catch Kayode too. Detective Mike was going to kill two birds with one stone and he did.

Kayode looked around the four corner walls which was now his new home. Greed had led him to betray his friend and now that same betrayal had landed him in prison. He felt nothing but regret.
