Jürgen Klopp and his Liverpool team flew to Emirate Stadium to face an informed Arsenal side in a must-win game. It was a win or lose situation for Liverpool after the league leaders fell a few days previously, as they looked to put further pressure on Pep Guardiola and his players.

Liverpool opened the game on the front foot, looking to score an early goal, but Mikel Arteta's players were up to the task, ensuring that all Liverpool efforts were nullified early on, after a superb feed from Trent Alexander-Arnold was clumsily finished by Sadio Mane. The reds had the finest chance of the first half. The game eventually settled into a comfortable rhythm for the Gunners, who were able to comfortably finish the first half. It was a goalless draw going into halftime.

The reds were more deliberate this time after the break, and they came close to taking the lead via Sadio Mane, but he was offside. It didn't take long for Klopp's men to score their opening goal, as Diogo Jota finished calmly to put them ahead. Many would take the fault at Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for the goal, which came from what could be described as a very tight angle, but it didn't stop Jota from putting his side ahead as he was ready to be replaced. Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were introduced into the game at 56'.

On the 60th minute, Liverpool took control of the game when Firmino, who likes scoring against Arsenal, was in the correct place to smash home Robertson's cross. Arsenal's night was ruined as they failed to even score a consolation goal.
