First, a little mood music to set the stage. (Video provided via Dolly Parton channel on YouTube)
Three airports
Two time zones
Three restaurant meals
and a hotel room with no comfy chairs
Why can't hotels include at least one sort of comfortable chair in the room?
Hi all. I'm back again for another sublime Sunday. Today was a travel day for work. I'm visiting Nashville, Tennessee where I'll be giving a keynote at a conference on Tuesday. I'm participating in some other conference events on Monday so had to come in today.
I adore Nashville but because of some of the rules around the travel - since it's provided by this vendor - I spent 10 hours traveling today which could have easily been just about 6 or 8 and involved no airplanes or airports if they'd allowed me to drive.
I traveled from Indianapolis to Baltimore where I had about a three hour layover.

When I deplaned, I took a little walk around the airport to stretch my legs post-flight. Grabbed this photo of some window art as I walked up to the central hub of the airport where there are a bunch of fast food places.
I chose lunch at a sit down place that focused on a Maryland staple dish - the crab cake! This is their crab cake club which had a fried crab cake, shrimp salad, bacon, tomato, and lettuce. It was very good.

The conference is being held at the Kimpton hotel which is a cute little boutique hotel with lots of pretty art and decorative elements. But, see what I mean about nowhere actually comfortable to just sit in the room?

I walked to a local place called "The Velvet Taco" for dinner.

I ordered my tacos and grabbed a seat outside on the patio. There was a bar across the street featuring live music so I got to enjoy the end of the group's musical set while I waited for my food.

My food came out pretty quickly. The tacos were good - and the cuban was probably my favorite.. From right to left was a bacon cheeseburger taco, a cuban taco, and a rotisserie chicken taco. The rotisserie chicken was surprisingly my least favorite. I also wish I'd been able to swap out my dad's delicious summer pickles for the sad tasting pickles on these tacos. I do highly recommend Velvet Taco but the pickles definitely need work.

I walked back to the hotel after dinner and have been writing and publishing some stuff that needs to go out this week and next - with my travel schedule I've got to get a little farther ahead than normal this week.
My hotel is right across from the Vanderbuilt University campus so I'm assuming this clock tower may be on the campus. Regardless, it is a pretty sight now that it's all lit up. (I left the crane in the shot because there is so much new construction going on here it's a realistic image of what you see in pretty much any direction from this hotel right now.)
